Gil Reece's two brilliant goals in the 3-0 home win on 17th April 1971. The first goal was a solo goal, the second was a flying header

Two cracking goals...the top one is about my favourite Blades goal,i was behind the Kop goal watching him run rings around the Birmingham defence...the 2nd wasn't to bad either.

We could lose the next 5 games and still be in a league position that most of us would be satisfied with at the start of the season.

People need to chill out

Should we judge performances by what we expected in August, or by what we have witnessed since?

And if it's the former, when do we change the parameters?

At the start of the season I was hopeful of a top half finish.

Now I am hopeful of a play-off finish.

Yes, you're right, performances influence our thought process over time.

However, if play-offs/promotion is now people's expectation rather than hope, then I think people are dumb.

You're welcome to disagree!

I've not seen enough of us play live to comment. So it was, in fact, a straight question.

When do we accept that we really are one of the best teams in the division and therefore expect to win more than we lose or draw?

Now? Christmas? Easter? When should a new expectation become realistic?

My opinion is obviously not now. What do you think?

I'm struggling to understand your point, HB. Sorry.

Don't apologise, I'm not being clear.

My question (rather than point) is at what stage do we stop saying "we are doing better than expected" and instead say "we are doing really well, what should we expect" and then "we have done really well and need to readjust our expectations"?

In much the same way that Barnsley South been saying our bubble will burst (and it hasn't), I sort of think by saying "we have achieved more than expected and should be grateful" is the same sort of attitude.

Not sure if that makes any more sense.

A few comments here saying we need to an emphatic win, Brum are crap etc. That way brings too much pressure, its just bravado and doesn't really mean anything. Agreed it would be great if we did thump them but for me this is one where performance is at least as important as result. We need to see evidence that we can play effectively and with confidence without PC. Ultimately the well oiled machine that we have all loved watching was a bit creaky on Tuesday evening, his absence affected both our individual and overall play to a significant degree. Because CW chose to go for it after conceding 3 we don't really know how he will start tomorrow, clearly he isn't going to play how we did in the 2nd half but does he go back to the starting 11 on Tuesday and try again or did he see enough there to realise it wasn't working and we need to try plan B? My guess is he will change things around. I think he needs to pull CCV out of the spotlight to let him build his confidence up and look to re-introduce him from the bench in a couple of games or so it would seem to me a good moment to bring in Stearman. CW sang his praises when we signed him and we need to see if he can deliver. I'd feel a lot happier if I knew that Baldock was back but assuming he isn't I'd be tempted to go like this (sorry the layout looks a bit wrong but hopefully you can see what I mean)

PC is the lynchpin for the team everything out of defence came through him and he was vital for setting up our attacking and continuity play. The only person in the current squad who I would have confidence in doing that job is John Fleck - he has the technical ability, the vision and the football brain. Clearly if Baldock is fit then Duffy reverts to his normal position and DB drops to the bench but I wouldn't have a problem playing Duffy as wingback.

Brum have scored just one goal in their last six games and have scored just 9 in all 18 league games this season. Time to become a little concerned if we don't put this one to bed.

I read MD as Michael Doyle and just spent a good ten seconds thinking ‘Doyle? Really?’. I need to go back to bed

I would just like to see a great performance, good solid defending, attacking with pace, accurate incicful passing
and if all that comes together like we’ve seen so many times with this team we will win the game.
I would even take a draw if we put in a performance because consistency and good football will
bring it’s own rewards eventually.
