He also wasn't too shabby in 2019 either pal. Hat trick at Villa, taking the 21st century scoring record...

Looked even better than I thought, when I saw the replays on TV, Lunny with an incredible pass, and as the camera follows the ball, Billy is coming in like a guided missile, just fantastic to watch.

Alright, so I've gone back and checked just to make sure my memory wasn't playing tricks on me. Maybe not champions, but you just had them as one of the few clubs "aiming for autos; top six minimum" in your prediction 🤷‍♂️

Not normally wrong, just sometimes.

I wonder if it was actually Billy who shouts "WHAT A BALL!" just as Lunny's striking it? He mentioned on an interview that he knew the cross was coming as Lunny "rolled his studs over the ball" which apparently means he's ready to whip it in...

Stoke would have been aiming for the autos though. The fact that they're miles short is a different matter ;)

I'm not sure that you can pull me up on that post given it was made at the end of May last year and it seems a strange thing to be searching for but each to their own I suppose.

And still no humility about your claim that you're normally right about things 😂. The Stoke prediction stuck in my head, I only searched for it because you denied it was true. Anyway, back to more important stuff.

Nothing you've said means I was wrong about Stoke - I didn't "predict [them] to win the Championship" as you thought. I have to confess I really don't get why you're so riled, it's a little odd.

I wish I hadn't bothered, I'm not riled at all. I just thought your statement about normally not being wrong was laughably arrogant when I could remember you tipping Stoke to do well in the Championship. And you were completely wrong about them. You tipped them top six at a minimum - they're currently 17th!

I wish you hadn't bothered either. You've made a mountain out of a molehill regarding a set of predictions I made back in May that I'd genuinely forgotten about and I'd still argue that Stoke's realistic aim at the start of the season would be top 6 minimum, possibly top two...but that's clearly too subtle for you. I notice that you didn't quote the other two sides I said would be aiming for the top two - Leeds and West Brom who are...well, top two.

I was wrong about Billy. I was also wrong about a fair bit of the Premier League prediction I made back in September - look that up if it makes you happy.

If only it was that easy , I think you will find when Wilder does leave we will struggle to maintain the standards he has set in place , there is no one and I mean no one , who is better at man management than Chris . Theres a guy who has had experience at the lane starting out not too far from here and he is doing well , early days yet for Mr Pemberton but he looking like he has saved Chesterfields ass !! Will follow his progress as time goes by .

My sincere hope is that over the next couple of years he is still part of our squad and being selected on a regular basis , rather than having to prove once again what is blindingly obvious - I.e. the fact that he is by some distance the best striker we have or are likely to have in the foreseeable future .

As I posted earlier in the season , it must have been extremely galling for him to have to sit on the bench and witness two players taking this role , one of whom is not and never will be a striker (belatedly recognised and now out on loan ) and another who has certain qualities but putting the ball in the back of the net not being one of them .

There is a fairly extensive list of players who have continued to score goals at the highest level well into their late 30's and I have seen absolutely nothing to persuade me that Billy Sharp is not capable of joining that list .

I admire the fact that many on here have held up their hands and said they got it wrong about him . As for the ones who still cling on to the fallacy that pace and youth are a prerequisite for a striker , many of whom are old enough to know better , I would say ........ mmmmm .
