Didzy. Using the justification that prime McGoldrick plus say Campbell would be more effective than prime Sharp and Campbell.

That said if I swap out Campbell for Cannon….maybe we’d need a reliable goalscorer!

In their ‘prime’ obviously.

For what it’s worth, my vote goes to Billy. I adored Didz as much as everyone really - but you can’t just replace Sharp’s goals.

The number of times he did absolutely nowt for 70+ minutes then just casually bag the winner is worth it’s weight in gold. The number of times Didz had a legitimate 10/10 performance, but seemingly had his boots on the wrong way round when it came to striking the ball was bonkers.

I will always love Billy. Likely favourite Blade of all time. But I’d take Didsy. Did so much to knit everything together.

Is this genuine prime IE; when they were each at their peak, or this imaginary prime where Didzy wasn't perennialy injured and he reached this "higher ceiling"?

If we're talking about what they achieved and how good they actually were in their prime then it's Sharp, no question.

Didzy was brilliant for us in the autumn of his career no doubt.

Billy with his old man know-how and discipline mixed with younger him would have been some mix.

As much as I love mcgoldricks style of play and obvious quality the fact is goals are so important and Billy wins that.

Watching notts county in playoffs tonight, camera pans up to catch up with play as didzy puts someone on their arse for the umpteenth time.

Objectively Sharp is the answer because of all the goals, but watching David McGoldrick brings me joy in a way no other player has..

Billy, with his club connections, is interwoven with a time as a Blade that's beyond comparison. That's why he'd get my vote, but as an entertainer Didzy is a level above. Both amazing.

Two totally different players and it depends what league you wanted them for. Prem I'd take didzy all day long lower down the pyramid then it has to be Billy.

Sharp was brilliant in league 1 and the Championship but was always underwhelming at Premier league level. Sharp is a legend of the Championship but hardly even known at PL level, similiar to Keith Edwards.

McGoldrick had 1 season in the Premier league where he comfortably fitted in….and consistently looked good at PL level.

So it’s a pretty easy decision.

Sharp is mentally stronger, more influential and a Blade.

But if you ignore that Sharp supports us then as you say at their best McGoldrick has more strings to his bow and is easily the better player when at his best.

I'd argue Didzy had two seasons where he comfortably fitted in - he was excellent that first year, just couldn't score to save his life. The second season he finally found his scoring boots but the rest of the team fell off a cliff. Without early career fitness issues I think Didzy could've easily been a prem player for longer than the two seasons he had there with us.
