I heard he's that good even pig fans were voting for him

I said it when we sold him the second time, he's a natural goal scoring centre forward that will score goals consistently until he retires. He's a quality, quality player. Always has been.

He was appallingly misused during his first two spells at the club and I'm thrilled for him that he's finally been given the opportunity to show what he can do and is flourishing in a Sheffield United team. He clearly loves the club deeply and deserves his player of the month award. Not only that, he deserves all of his goals. Club Player of the Season already without a shadow of a doubt and in this team that's some achievement.

If a club doesn't offer a youngster under 21 a contract, they aren't entitled to any compensation should he move to another club at the end of his existing deal.

A lot of clubs make a derogatory contract offer which a player would never accept, just so they get the compensation when they leave for "free". Nothing is free in football.

I believe similar happened with Diego DeItaliano.

The Messiah's masterstroke in all it's glory
All heil.

Being as we are now officially promoted champions, what are peoples thoughts on how Billy will fare in the championship?

Do you think he'll just pick where he left off and score 20+ goals again or do you think he will struggle or even get dropped?

Personally I think he'll do ok and perhaps score about 15. Obviously it will be more difficult against theoretically better defenders and in theory he'll get fewer chances but he has done it at this level before, and although he's now 32, he's never relied on great pace, it's more about hard work and instinct. Will be interesting to see who partners him..... Clarke, Hanson, Lavery or even a new signing?

I was thinking about whether we'd consider playing one up front in some games, particularly away, and whether Billy is suited for that role. Given the current squad, I could see us play 4-5-1 with Freeman wide right, Lafferty as an orthodox LB, Duffy on the left and Fleck, Coutts and Carruthers (or O'Shea) as the middle three with perhaps Coutts playing deeper. With Duffy and Freeman supporting wide, I think it's an option, although I also think it would suit Clarke more as the lone striker.

I think he will get about 10 to 15 goals which is based on his previous form in the Championship.

We do need a new striker though.

Realistically, Billy has always admitted it was a team performance, so his success will depend on the support he is given. We are building a squad with great potential, the crux is going to be if they can keep the consistency of last season.

The end to last season, culminating in Sharpy and Wilder singing United songs on the balcony of the city hall, with the trophy has to be one of the greatest United moments of all time, just for everything it represents from getting out of the L1 hell hole, to 100 points, the Blades leading the Blades squad.

UTB.

Think Deane and Agana :)

UTB
I've already had the same thought watching them both score a hat trick whilst thumping the piggies 6-0 at bramall lane!!. ( Deane & Agana vs Chester if my memory serves me correctly?). Fucking hell, I was a younger man when I watched them ripping opposing teams apart!!.

Makes you smile.

Nice.
