His departure, what a mess. Hecky saying it was the board and the board saying it was Hecky. Promised a contract all season, probably so he kept up the same intensity behind the scenes that pushed us to promotion. Makes me so angry that we’ve been let down by so many at the top. We just had to cash in on Ndiaye because the club just couldn’t possibly lose out on the £12m we made when we sold him, we simply would’ve gone bust!!!

Let’s be honest…..Sharp was starting to struggle badly in the Championship in his final year.
Although in fairness, we needed to play it to feet but he even allowing for that, he was struggling to find space.
So he definitely wasn’t up to playing at Premier league level.
We could have shown goodwill and sentimentality and gifted him a new contract 1 year contract.
But then the owners or manager would have received criticism for not being professional and ruthless enough.

Not sure how we have been let down….the alternative was to gamble, build up debts and with end up like Nottingham Forest or Sheff Wednesday.
I’m pleased the owners are capable of resisting fans demands to keep spending building up massive debt on the credit card.
I’d much rather our owners show business acumen and ensure we still have a club to support.

The last 2 years we’ve been one of the highest spenders in the entire EFL, offering massive wages too. We could afford it with the £45 million and £35 million Sky parachute payments but now we’re back down to the standard £7 million payment, so it was essential we massively cut costs this season.

Also think the owners are deliberately being cautious regards spending and making sure our accounts are healthy because they have the £35 million non payment hanging over them. Would be a terrible look, if the owners save themselves £35 million when buying the club then spend much of that in building up an expensive squad challenging for a top 2 place.

Hi Blades -- Billy was amazing, emotional and reflective on Football Heaven last night. One of the greats.

Listen here if you missed it: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0pgpp1s

Really enjoyed the interview and loved his honesty.
Interesting that he received an offer/ some interest to join us on the coaching staff last season and wanted to come.

He’s clearly passionate, very honest and has high standards and obviously very attached to the Blades.

It’s only my opinion but think he has a bit of a Roy Keane/ Chris Wilder vibe about him. An emotional ultra competitive winner who hates losing.
In theory you would think his personality might make him a great manager. He tells it….how it is…ultra honest….no hiding…no games.

I think there’s a good chance he might end up being United manager one day….he clearly wants the job and is determined to work hard for the chance.

However I can imagine his high standards and honesty meaning he falls out with some players like Roy Keane did when he was manager.
Also can imagine that if he goes on a losing streak and starts receiving criticism from the fans….then he’ll react making digs at the fans and
make a big issue of defending blaming the ref and injuries etc. Can imagine him being sarcastic with reporters too if his teams are struggling.

He will have an excellent mentor in Chris Wilder who will give him the pros and cons of managing your home town club
And will no doubt advise him to never let the plaudits and negative comments effect you too much.

Can’t tell if this is a serious post, did you just commend our former owners on their spending? We’re in a state where we’ve had to have a fire sale, we’ve been docked points in previous seasons due to our spending habits and have serially been underfunded and made to look like national embarrassments in the prem, not once, but twice.

Just listened to the Billy on radio Sheffield show. Boyhood dreams turned real. Great listen

Mad to think we got rid of Billy, Berge and ndiaye, Doyle post promotion to the fucking premier league and people still defend the Prince 😮

What’s the chances of someone telling the truth over the contract denial for Billy?

The issues behind the Ndiaye are well known. Let’s not rewrite history. He he wouldn’t sign a new contract.

Wasn’t Doyle just a season long loan?

Billy, if you have any sense don't go near this club at the mo.
Loved to see you on a few Sheffield half marathons, standing and supporting runners go by in S17, signing autos and chatting.
Follow your gut instinct, do what is best for you.
Thankyou for the memories.
One day I'm the voice of Arnie
"You will be back"

He said he'd play for nothing.

Thank you Sir William of Sharp it was pleasure watching you , legend. You are up there, for me, with King Keef as one of our gretest ever goal scorers.
