Billy sharp cost us the game not Robinson

Just arrived home so I haven't read everything but the thing that cheesed me off most was that the goal was scored in time added on for Preston's time wasting. We should be able to defend free kicks from the opposition half. We've got to learn to defend against hoof ball. Birmingham. West Brom and now Preston have done us with at best agricultural football

Sharp did nothing second half he was blowing out of his arse he should have been subbed well before he gave away the free kick that cost us the points
He got better and more involved as the game went on.

Ridiculous decision to give the free kick away but it was easily defendable

As soon as Sharp gave away that stupid feee kick in the last minute, I said this is going to be trouble, they are a very big team and will now load the box
Gutted

Stupid free kick to give away but its the sort of ball that gets pumped into the box all the time and Robinson made a mess of it when a big part of your job as a central defender is to head balls like that away, multiple times a game. He was also at fault when he let their bloke get in one on one but luckily Olsen made the save and dug him out the shit.

In a back 4, I don't buy into the myth that we need a left footed defender in the LCB position. John Terry played left side almost his entire career but was right footed, Maguire does too. Robinson is almost guaranteed to make a mistake as he has done in almost every game we've seen him in when we've got Basham on the bench who we know can do a job week in week out, just shift Egan across and slot Bash next to him.

I won't understand what possessed Wilder to sign Robinson to start with, there are and were loads of defenders in the Championship who are streets ahead of him who we could have afforded to sign. Too many cases of trying to roll turds in glitter and hoping that it sticks. Worked with some but not with most of them. His deal expires at the end of the season but god help us if we have to see much more of him before the season is out.

It was a free kick that was on the halfway line, not one twenty yards out that required a defensive wall. We had the entire team goal side of the ball so the fact we couldn’t defend a hopeful punt bothers me more than Sharp conceding the free kick.

You cant blame Sharp, you could easily blame Freeman for missing a sitter.

What annoys me is the attempt at time wasting up front, we always lose it then something like this happens, instead get ball in box knock it in goal job done.

Exactly right and the big concern is that direct, physical football is plainly back in vogue in the Championship at a time when we are woefully ill-equipped to deal with it.

We’ve already seen a Birmingham side happy to have 25% possession and concentrate on winning the high balls/set pieces in the box and WBA are a full-on throwback to Cambridge under John Beck. PNE, meanwhile, seem to have employed the same dull, rugged and basic style for about 15 years. They never change. And, of course, we have Cardiff, Millwall and Middlesbrough yet to come.

The failure across 3 transfer windows, to recruit a physically commanding central defender to provide the presence that JOC had, is going to see us experience quite a lot more pain of the sort inflicted by PNE, WBA and Birmingham.

Agree. PNE seemed to have 2, maybe 3 that fitted that description. If they can find them, surely we can.....

Not getting a replacement for JOC at the beginning of last season was our greatest mistake in recent times

How quickly things change in the fickle world of fandom, a player can have 3 assists and possibly be man of the match with everyone saying how wonderful he is, and the next game he gives away a foul on the half way line and everyone is saying hes past it and a liability. FFS
If hed given a penalty then I may be able to share your frustration, but it was on the halfway line, the only accusation you could level at sharp is that his trust in our defence was misplaced

4Was taken more like 38 yards out too but even so should have been defended. Chris Morgan in his prime would have smashed that into row Z.
Yes basic strategy is if the ball in the bramall lane upper stand it's unlikely to lead to a goal
We lost 3 or 4 chances to clear it away
Morgan worked on percentages if it is not in play the percentages were very much on his side

Seriously? You really don't think Billy was wrong to give them a chance to load the box and lump it forward when there was no need for him to do so? Yes defensive of it was then shocking, but there's fault there for Billy too
Who’s a Silly Billy

Wasn't sharp or Robinson fault it was a complete lack of desire and hunger to kill the game off and win Individual battles

We won't do anything in this league unless we can do the basics and we can't
It's pathetic how bang average cloggers like Huddersfield, Preston and Birmingham have accepted the easiest points of their season t
off our soft as shit team of wankers Nd its time the manager give them a fucking shake

Just.take it that billy should have more about him when into the last minute you give the land of giants a set piece ,as for Robinson the less said better .utb .and in the last minutes a closer free kick would be easier to defend .
