Why did we let a goal scorer leave and why was Blackie only given two games.

Was Billy part of a compo package for SOD?

It seems clear that it wasn't a decision taken yesterday so who knows what's been planned and what plots and sub-plots will become apparent in the next few days.

McCabe told Sharp to wait 6 games... and I think we should forget O'Driscoll, that's not going to happen

I dont think sod would come to us,why would he want too ?He`s at a club thats probably going in a better direction than us{at least for a couple of seasons anyway]And theyve got more money than us it seems{billys fee}compaired to us they seem very stable, playing football in a nice tidy ground with no hostilities.no attraction me thinks

It's just a shame for Billy that the sacking didn't happen last season, then he could have stayed at the Lane.

He didn't score for Warnock or Robson either. Needs to be a big fish in a small pond, with the team built around him. Was never going to happen here for him...

He didn't play for Warnock, did he? He had a year where for whatever reason he lost his form. Other than that he's been prolific thoughout his career. I don't think there's enough evidence to back up this claim, though it might be right.

Evans is better than Sharp anyway. More of an all round player and if he stays fit will score more this season.

Sharp proved to be a better all round player than Evans last season, albeit for a different club.

Sincerely hope that you're right and Evans does find his scoring boots this season - although I can safely predict that Sharp, if he stays fit, will get into double figures again for Donny.

Evans has a lot to prove this season imo.

He stayed fit last season and unlike Sharp couldn't hit a bulls ass with a banjo. Evans' record is miles behind Sharp's.

I still believe he will score more this year. I may be wrong but I hope I'm right. The only fly in the ointment is that Sharp will be taking the pens at Donny.

I hope you're right fella - but just have a look on soccerbase. The phrase "not fit to lace his boots" springs to mind. The onus is on Evans to prove he's up to it, not Sharp.

Billy Sharp came in for £2m, and everyone wanted him to do well and score shedloads for the Blades but in reality he struggled to score, find any sort of form and ultimately ended up one of the most divisive players we have ever had who polarised opinion.

Billy Sharp has now gone, Kevin Blackwell has now gone, so what is the big obsession about him?

I think Evans will prove himself now. He's had a season to bed in and i think he know's it's time to start showing why we signed him. I also think if Speedo is to take over, then he will all he can to help his countryman flourish

sorry but that is utter bollocks

We've developed a prolific goalscorer and let him go for nothing. After proving his ability we've paid £2M to buy him back, only to convert him to a flop. We've let him go for half that, bought a flop for treble it, and Sharp's prolific again. There's no obsession, but it's a decent talking point as to what went wrong.

Has any SUFC manager actually played BS in his natural position, as a box player?

Evans took the free-kicks yesterday and I think he'd be on for pens if we ever actually get one this season. I watched his shooting pre-match yesterday and unlike most of the players he was finding the net just about every time. Like many before him, and I include Billy in that, he's suffered from style of play and lack of chances created. I still think there's a 20 plus goal Chumpionship striker in there.

Given the proper service he will score. We could do with signing another pacey lad just to spread the game out at time to give strikers like Evans more space

The problem is, there's an awful lot of "thinking" about Evans' ability, and not, as yet, a lot of evidence.

Perhaps Donny told us to wait 6 games in so that they could get their season tickets sold but the two results have brought things forward??
