In the phases of the game where we get Hamer, Arblaster, O'Hare and Brooks on the ball, we look better than either of the last two teams we got promoted with imo.

The ceiling is very high with this team, especially considering that in terms of our attacking play we've basically been playing without a right back. Gilchrist isn't a right back whatsoever although his defensive performance in the 2nd half especially yesterday was absolute class.

The lack of squad depth has led to us being flat in the 2nd half of the last couple of games, hopefully that won't be a problem from next sunday.

I think the depth is there, just need more faith in them to make changes earlier (first subs on 70 mins again). Players are getting fitter, fringe players need more minutes in the tank (cup should help) and get the side more settled so we can push sides later in games

Currently played for us v Norwich we have, assuming 4 2 3 1, (or maybe 4 4 1 1 )

Goalkeeper -1st game.
RB - 3rd game.
RCB- 2nd game, (1st was with the U21's).
LCB-1st game this season. (never played with RCBr before).
LB - 3rd game.

The 2 holding or whatever, "Pivots"
One aged 20 and only played a few games for us,
The other, played last season but only a very few games together in the new system.

3 midfield/attackers.
RHS One 20 yr old, played only a handful of games.
Centre/No. 10 -only played 3 games.
LHS - played last season but performed well with the No. 10 at his old club.

CF - only 3 games.

New system, new manager.
And too many on here expect miracles.

Not sure if not conceding 2 goals to QPR and a better final ball to get Moore going is asking for miracles. We outplayed the opposition in 5 of the 6 halves so far. I get the gelling but I think a lot if the criticism is not at the players but at the management if the matches.
Not sure if Moore can play as a lone striker, time may prove me wrong.
Substitutions need to be earlier if he sees players aren't on it. Need to be able to make positive game changes to keep us from letting the opposition take control. Once again, time may prove that he will once the team settles and roles are understood.

I agree this team is in its infancy and "5" points from 3 games, 2 away, is a good return. Unbeaten also. Hopefully we can look back in 20, 30 games and think this league is breeze. I think we have the squad to do it, just hope they are pushed into the same mindset.

I don’t think we are far off. I would like to see another striker, a defensive midfielder and a centre back. I’m convinced Anel will go, which doesn’t bother me at all anymore. Can’t make my mind up about Souza.
I would like to think that suitable replacements are lined up as much as possible if they both go. But I live in hope.

For me, CB, (poss 2) Striker, defensive midfielder to replace Souza (if he goes)

I say 2 CB’s only because I just don’t rate Trusty and with Anel leaving

I think it would be good to keep Souza now, played pre season and first few games and has been consistent in the side, that stability will be good as we head into Sept, Oct and Nov

I think Moore can play the lone striker role but it is a big ask for him to do this for 90 minutes.. I would like to see after 60 minutes him play with another striker and the after 75 minutes take him off. But to do this we need another CF.
The problem isn’t new and to be honest we have to have more than just a battering ram, that’s not being disrespectful to Moore or McBurnie before him, but sometimes sides just get the better of our strikers, defensively.

So we have to turn the screw, just attacking down wings and expecting Moore to get on the end of things against 2-3 centre halves won’t always work. Similar with England and Kane, you can change things.

Norwich fans knew that their defence could hold their own against a big lad, so change things mid way through the second half and drop some pace on the last man for Moore to feed from deeper. Get the pace in from the wings, give them something different to think about

That first 20 minutes vs QPR was some of the most delightful football I've seen us play in years. Not since our first PL season under Wilder have I enjoyed watching us that much. If we can tap into that more, as players continue to grow into the new formation, we will be a very dangerous opponent for most (if not all) teams in this league.

We are still a little short on backups. If 1 or 2 get injured/suspended, I worry that we will struggle to effectively plug those gaps. But it's still early days, so we can only hope to see this team improve week by week.

I still think the decision on Hamer playing central may well be taken out of our hands with what bids come for Souza. I think secretly we know he has a ceiling in terms of value.

I’d like to see Hamer and Arblaster together and a forward three of Rak-Sayki, O’Hare and Brooks.

I think it will be very harsh on Brooks to lose his spot. Since being moved to à wingers role he looks more of a starter than the squad player he looked in a three.

At one point he got past three men blocking his path on Saturday. He’s got magic feet when he’s on his game.

Something that Souza and Berge have in common is that they both only play when they feel like it but when they do they can be immense and difficult to play against.

Losing Souza would leave our midfield on the flimsy side unless he was replaced with a brick shithouse type enforcer. Some of our midfield were too easily forced off the ball at Norwich.

The other alternative is a pacy midfield that can move the ball quickly and effectively without having to dwell on it too long. Let's call it hot potato football!

He did that more than once
I think we've got a real. Player on our hands here, the more he plays the more his confidence grows and the better he gets

Reminds me of Brian deanes development from gangly bean pole to powerhouse thoroughbred

Would certainly be interesting to see a ‘double pivot’ of Arblaster and Hamer, with those three in front of them.

I genuinely don’t know whether Blaster and Hamer would get played through without having someone more defensive next to them. My sense is, in this division, probably not very often. Although they’re both small, both have decent athleticism and Blaster in particular has a good football brain. I think it’s worth a shot - we could concede a couple of soft goals but if it clicks it could be dynamite going forward. Might need a nasty, 30-year old shithouse midfielder in the squad to come on if they’re getting bullied.

Absolutely mate.

There won't be (m)any sides at this level that could bring the quality of a Brewster, Peck, RND, Rak Saki after 60 mins.

We really need to get better at that final phase of the game.

i also think if souza goes arblaster and hamer could play together in the 2 for me hamer just isnt in the game enough out on the left and would be far more influential for us more central

When every one was losing their minds about hamer going I have to say I wasn't too fussed

He doesn't look fit enough constantly gives the ball away needlessly and doesn't seem to be very dedicated to his profession from the constant social media posts of his boozy adventures

As I've said before I would happily see the back of all that squad from last season excluding blaster and brooks and would take the money for all of them and I don't think replacing them would be difficult

have to say hamer looks a stone overweight as well but i just dont think he looks happy out on the left thinks hes been moved out there to accomodate his mate i would play him either with arblaster in the 2 or the number 10 role that o'hare is currently playing wasted out wide imo
