Biggest attendance

Does anyone know the biggest attendance we’ve ever played in? One of the recent Wembley visits? Or have we played some crucial match at Old Trafford or Anfield etc back in the days of flat caps and pipes? It certainly isn’t Bramall Lane anyway as ours is 68,287 against Leeds in 1936 for a 5th round cup tie and Wembley appearances have surpassed that figure certainly.

edit: done some digging and unless anyone knows of another game with a higher attendance I’m presuming the Burnley play off final in 2009 is the winner.

They were my next finals to dog out, it could’ve been even more back then I imagine a lot of turnstile operators took a backhander especially for a cup final.

Well I assumed they'd be 100k as that was always routinely given as the attendance for the final and especially after the famously huge gate in 1923 but it seems that the next 100k official attendance after 1923 wasn't until 1950 which surprised me

No 1923 was the White horse final. Bolton v West Ham. Bolton knocked Blades out in the semis

Interesting pitch markings. I'd never really thought about it before but up to 1902 pitch markings were like this

Just like the ones in the picture.
In 1902 they changed to something more recognisable.


Apart from the penalty spot 'D' and corner quadrants this pitch looks like modern markings. Anyone know why there was a strange double arc in front of the keeper?
