I realise it is a huge season for us as a whole just like last season was but i felt some of the new signings and younger players had a difficult/poor season and hopefully this year they can step up.

James Wallace
Injured for nearly the whole season so hopefully he can stay injury free and become a big player for us.

Che Adams
A bit of an impact player last season mainly in the cups, i think this season he could be a major part of the first team.

Diego De Girolamo
Similar to Adams but i don't think he will be ready to step up, hopefully we will keep him at the lane not loan him out and get him some more first team experience.

Michael Higdon
I think his season could go one of two ways, either he will become the striker we all wanted him to be last season or he will end up out on loan or sold only time will tell.

Agree with all that.

Wallace and Adams more so than the other 2 for me.

One of them we didn't know much about, and now we know what he can do has us all excited.

The other we know a bit about which excited us, but have not been able to see it in a read and white shirt.

These two are why Im not as worried as some at the lack of transfer activity, centre half is the key area which will be addressed.

Wallace - a creative midfielder, and Adams, with his attacking flair, hopefully playing regularly will be like two new additions to the starting 11.

Flo Cuvelier - Again another injury ladden player, but previously a clear level above this league. If his injuries are behind him and he still has the game then he could be huge.
Connor Dimaio - Big season if he's going to make it with us. I really like the kid so I hope he steps up and shows us more of what we saw previously.
Terry Kennedy - Will see if he's got a career as a footballer to look forward to, or will his knees see him retire.
George Long - If he's going to stay with us he has to make the No1 jersey his this year.
Harrison McGhaey- Again another one who previously looked a better than the level we find ourselves at, but last season didn't meet that promise.
Jose Baxter - Can't recall him taking many games by the scruff of the neck and driving us over the line, certainly not a regular occurrence. If he can't do it at league one, then where is his standing long term? In short if he can't do it at this level, what's the point in persisting with him when he seems a luxury player at the moment?

Could be a big season for any of our under 24's who want to make it at our club.

Don't forget Callum Mcfadzean. Will he challenge for a place in the first team or be sent back out on loan? I don't know much about him personally but I think he's a LB/LM right? Can't see him challenging for LM when we have Murphy and Adams though.

Baxter more so than any of the others IMHO.

Last chance saloon for Jose.

Higdon will end up at Pompey.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Coutts. I know he looked appalling at times towards the end of last season but with a good pre season and positive Nige who knows....

I agree with you on Coutts, he also looked very good at times as well as appalling. I think he will be good this season.

Its a big season for every single player on the books !
Some of them have so called 'pedigree' and have shown in glimpses their ability certainly against the bigger teams in cup competitions but they were found out in the run of the mill league games that their hearts were not up to the task !
too many of them went 'missing' when the chips were down - The manager paid the price with his job but it was the players that didn't do the job !

We will see how good Mr Adkins and his team are in the coming weeks, but we are still short of two centre backs and despite opinions on this site Collins and McEverley are not the answer !

If every player on the books grew a pair then we would be halfway to promotion !

It seems to be my job to remind you all about Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

He's been the one to really impress NA so far...

Hoping for good things from him...and all our young 'ins!!

Nigel Adkins did say that Dom Calvert-Lewin was not ready for the first team, so he may only make the odd appearance off the bench, towards the end of the season I would guess.

Agree with most of what you lads have said above.

If anyone was at the Preston cup game (away leg) and saw Higdon showing what he could be, then you will know that he maybe deserves a chance. In that game he was everything that we wanted from a big striker, I can only assume that his Mrs burnt his toast at breakfast because the mood he was in, I don't think Mike Tyson would have argued with him, the defenders were petrified by the end of the game, and would have come off the pitch black and blue. Young Diego scored in that game, held his own well. Young Dimao had to be taken off, it was men against boys for him, Murphy came on and changed the game.

Flo Cuvelier - shown glimpses of who he really is, if only he can get fit and stay injury free, we may just seen the best of him.

Wallace J - I think every Blade is saying his prayers at night, to make sure Wallace is fit and injury free as well, or it will be curtains.

Baxter - I think we have all said everything there is to be said about Jose, so much natural ability but he needs to knuckle down, grit his teeth and get on with it.

Che Adams - he could be the real gem, his awareness and positional play, at times, is fantastic, which he showed against Swindon.

C McFadzean - not sure there is a place for him, same goes for Otis Khan, another good youngster, I would think a season out on loan, toughening him up, is the way to go.

Jake Wright - anyone who has seen this young striker will be excited, not only does he know where the back of the net is, but he is TALL!!!!!

Hope he has improved since his last showing against Chezzy - He was awful !!

Big season for Flynn imo. Got to find consistency and keep the injuries at bay.

Sothall, I reckon if Cuvelier, Wallace, and Adams manage to shake off the tag of bit player we'll see a drive throughout the team that will pleasantly surprise all of us. Adams may be young, but I reckon he's also fearless and won't be concerned about the opposition or reputations. As for Wallace and Cuvelier, it should be like having two new players signed, players who could drive our engine in ways we've all hoped for.

If we can get say 60 good first team performances out of the 11 of them. We'll be 50 up on last season without having to spend another penny.

He proved that when he bagged at brace at BDTBL, minutes after coming on the field, two goals in two minutes against Spurs and made a huge impact against Swindon in the 5-5 play off game.

Cardiff are supposed to be sniffing around him at the moment.

Didn't Adkins dismiss any interest from Cardiff or Leeds? Kind of puts him on the line if a sale does go through, but I doubt we'll see anyone moving out, at least not until Adkins decides who he wants to retain. Personally I think we need a smaller squad with a few quality additions.

Scougall, Freeman, Howrad big time, Harris, Basham in midfield, McNulty even Brayford has to justify his fee after a steady return. Only a handful who have nothing to prove.

Never mentioned giving any of them a run, or preferential treatment.

Never said you did mate. Not aimed at you at all. Just a convenient post to hang a comment. I do it all the time. I thought that's how it worked...

Personally I think its big season for every player. They have all got a clean slate so I hope we're going to be pleasantly surprised by a few.
