Anyone got or heard any updates on jack O'Connell, all seems to have gone deathly quiet on that front, I for one don't think we will see him this season, maybe a few outings for the u23s to aid his recovery for, hopefully a fully season next year

He had a shit or bust op pre-season - that fails he’s likely done. Suppose they won’t know for a while.

Think it’s pointless to speculate, and also probably not fair on JOC when people are talking about his career being no over.

best thing we can do is not try and rush him back too soon.

I'm sure Slav wouldn't beat around the bush if asked about JOC and tell us flat out the prognosis

I was quietly optimistic when I saw that he'd got a squad number.

If we do see him at all, I'd imagine it won't be until the tail end of the season.

Realistically speaking though, I fear his time at United may be over. Huge shame.

Yes
Good player that we were destined to get some of our moneys worth out of before selling him......of course he was going to get a career ending injury

Always a worry when a player has been out this long.

We've had the best of O'Connell now unfortunately, I fear he'll be a James Wallace from here on in

You do know that emoji is a "high five"
On mine it looks like someones diving off the ten metre board at sheaf valley baths....

Sos phone was upside down..."my mistaka to maka"
🙃

It will be a pity if Joc can,t play anymore.i hope he can play again though.

his contract is up in June. going to be interesting to see what the club do. wouldn't want to be the one making that call

I was told that after he's been out a year his wages half this coupled with the relegation reduction too means his wages will be very low in comparison to others. I'd like to think the club will offer him an extra year. seems like such a waste to let such a talent just leave after paying him for the past year.

If after renewal he retires then there will be an insurance payout surely? if he comes good then we have Jack back and if he's back fit but not the same then he's released the summer after.

Surely he would sign a further year, be a lot of bitterness if he was to reject such an offer.

Really hope we see JOC on top form in the red n white again, such a depressing situation.

Contract expires summer 2023

Not the 1st player to be out for a couple of years and come back OK.
Disrespectful to write him off.
Who are you thinking of? I can't think of anyone who took 2 years out the modern game and came back.
I hope he's the exception but I'm not aware of anyone else making it back from that kind of lay off.

Can't think of one at the minute but players have done it.
Modern technics make this possible.
Players have come back after 3 ACL operations unless they have 3 legs that's one leg having at least two.
Jack is a fitness fanatic which could be partly responsible for his problem.
I'm backing Jack to get back sometime this season.

That's the spirit George,

If you do manage to think of a player who had 2 years off and come back, were they even close to the standard they were before being injured for that long... Sometimes you've just gotta face the facts sad as it is for JOC
