well today in my opinion is one of those games that Utd usually fail to meet the expectations... I can think of loads of games when a win against a rival could define our season... more often than not we draw or lose the "big" one...
Be interested to see how wilder and the players handle today... I hope we play them off the park .. crowd in full voice for 90 mins and a great atmosphere ... but.....

Swinging the lamp. Blades 5. Cardiff1

I can't remember the last time I have felt this nervous about a match.
I know nothing will be decided today but a win and a Bolton defeat and a defeat for the pigs would be a Carlsberg Saturday.

I've just remembered when I last felt this nervous, Boxing Day 79

I'm looking forward to it but not at all giddy.

It's one game and nothing will be decided whether we win, lose or draw. I will try to enjoy the game as a spectacle but know full well I will be stood up after 5 minutes ranting at the ref and going off on one. It's the Blades way.

This is an absolutely huge game - promotion 6 pointer - could be 8 points ahead of 2nd or 2 points after today. I hope the players are excited and raring to go at the thought of that prospect. What a great opportunity we have to pull away in the next two games.

Tough game today, despite Scunny's recent dip they will be well up for it. Alexander will have had this marked on the calendar for some time now and we can probably throw the recent form book out of the window.
All that being said I expect Chris to have our lads equally fired up. This team has experience of performing for the big crowds now and knows not just how to win but also how to dig in when required.
I predicted a draw at the start of the week and am sticking by that. It would be a decent result all things considered as even a Bolton win puts more pressure on 2nd spot than it does on us. A win would be fucking splendid though.

One thing is certain, we will still be top at 5pm.

The power of positive thinking needs to be in force by every Blade today.

Going to be a good game. I think it could be our biggest league attendance since October 2011 when we played Wednesday

We can't reasonably expect the crowd to be in full voice. They've been let down so often by entirely different players and management and they're really nervous.

You expect too much. Be fair.

It will be our biggest league crowd since April 2012
When we drew 2-2 with Stevenage in front of 30,043
We played well that day but amazingly Stevenage scored from basically their first 2 shots at goal.
We came back well in the 2nd half.

Can still remember that Beattie close range volley in the final minute.
He blasted it at goal and it hit their player on the knee and deflected over the bar.

I remember that game quite well, I thought we were poor first half. It's the angriest I've ever seen Large Mendonca at a football game :D

Well it went as predicted, a bit of an anti climax when 3 points would have made things a whole lot easier... the life of a blade
