You can’t make this stuff up, talk about a closed shop boys club!

Accountant covers for manager, manager covers for Accountant, and jointly devised article by their mates at the Star sports team (who are supposed to be impartial)

There is no way we progress as a club with the strangle hold this group has on the club and its absent owners.

The Star is mainly a mouthpiece for the begging bowl scrubbers over at Swillsborough.

Easy to agree that could be true... Hopefully that's not how things really are though 😄🫣

the club won the lottery when they appointed a cheap management team in wilder and knill who ended up being able to take a middling league 1 club into the premier league, whilst making profit on transfers every season before the premier league. Wilder and knill, NO ONE ELSE, is responsible for this. They were in charge of recruitment and they weren’t backed with money, only 70p on the £1 that they brought in.

He is one of the main characters in what has been an absolute SHAMBLES. He is solely responsible for us having to let Ndiaye and Berge leave, SOLELY. He knew ndiaye was a talent and he should’ve had a longer better contract from an earlier age.

We won the lotto and have gone broke since. He is my most hated figure at bramall lane ever as I don’t think anyone has put the club back as far as he has.

We must change things for the sake of changing things!

I think you are creating a story that doesn't exist.

N'Diayes team were the ones who wouldn't sign longer deals all the way through. We wanted to tie him down for longer like 4 with an option of 5 etc. Can't force him to sign.

Berge saw the writing on the wall that season and had been constantly told by his international manager that he needed to not be at our club. Burnley presented a better chance at staying up than us.
Fulham better still, fairly stable top flight team.

I'm not just outright defending Bettis but ultimately whoever the owners are he works for them. And carries out their orders.
Which is why this time last year he had nothing to do with Wilder leaving.

As CEO Bettis has to carry the can for not modernising the club at all over the last 10 years. We’re still the same pub team from the league one days, we’ve just managed to make some players and their agents rich along the way.

He’s a shite CEO and won’t be working in football again once COH get bored of him.

There was no money for modernisation because we weren’t funded sufficiently by owners.

Before you say yeah but £500m, look at the accounts and where it went. Or show where the spare cash was.

100% - Prince A basically was not wealthy enough to support a Premier League club. It got too much for him & he was incredibly lucky Hecky got us promoted when he did.

Depends what you mean by modernisation. If you mean building a training ground then yeah it costs money and you need some stability.

But a competent director of football and a scouting team and data analyst - these would all have cost less than just one of our panic transfers from this season. The money wasted on Kalvin Philips’s wages would more than cover them. So there still is money it’s just been spent inefficiently year after year and that’s definitely on the CEO.

Do you blame Bettis for the Philips deal?

Do you blame Bettis for the Philips deal?
Not having a good enough recruitment set up has led to us wasting money on poor, unimaginative signings, year after year after year, at a cost of £ tens of millions. We constantly underperform our peers with similar and smaller budgets on this front. If that isn’t the CEO’s responsibility, then I don’t know who’s it is

Maybe someone should have taken a look at the money we were spending on players like Mousset, McBurnie, Brewster, Robinson (C &.J), Freeman et al and either suggested better ways to spend that cash or at least try and recover some of that cash by trading players at the peak of their value.

There’s over £100m of players that have left for free or below market value because of our inability to trade successfully.

Do you blame Bettis for the Philips deal?
Ultimately as CEO the buck stops with him. There was enough evidence prior to signing that it was a pointless gamble. If it wasn’t directly his fault then it’s consequentially his fault by employing such poor footballing people at the club.

Ultimately the buck stops with the owners.

Where does Wilder fit in this pointless gamble? Does Bettis rank above him when it comes to signings? Who wanted Philips?

To believe that you must believe Bettis rules the roost over Wilder. Highly unlikely.

The owners are shareholders and need to be holding the CEO to account. I deeply believe he has massively underperformed over the last 5 years and his performance last summer should have been enough to get him finally sacked.

This is kinda the problem isn’t it? In any normal football club the manager is an employee of the club and answerable to the CEO.

Because we’re Dog & Duck of the EFL roles & responsibilities seem to be defined by the outcomes. Someone does a good job and they’re all claiming credit, when things go badly it’s finger pointing time.

Why aren’t you judging him since 2016? Wasn’t he a good CEO during the good years and the 9th place PL finish?

The owners held Wilder to account when they sacked him after the last few weeks of the season and the PO final. Wilder, not Bettis.

Owners sack managers. And CEO’s.

Show me you don’t know how much analysts and data teams and a recruitment network and a DOF costs by blatantly illustrating that in a single post on a forum.

Yet Leicester and West Ham and Spurs have proven that you can’t go wrong with a proper recruitment set up, even though theirs costs millions to run a year.

I presume you meant 'CAN' go wrong.

You could chuck Everton and Chelsea in there too.

Our keyboard warriors rubbish Horland and scream for a 'proper DoF', without seeing, or perhaps wanting to see, how difficult it is,

Yes, Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton are brilliant at it, but most other clubs aren't.

There is no panacea, no magic bullet and more importantly, no money tree.

Its pretty obvious.

All bad signings are the fault of the Owners , Bettis , Selles, Bord , AI.

All good signings are due to Wilder

Sorted
😉

Sorry but that bag of shyte we fetched in last summer at stupid fees contracts and wages was incompetent all round that’s not a comment in hindsight it’s what many said at the time

Don't you talk some utter nonsense

Strange how other clubs get deals and contracts over the line in days or weeks, but we seem to take months and end up signing shit on the last day of the window, paying over the odds and giving them 4 year contracts. Seems like a bit of a bladey bladey circle jerk down at the lane.
I'm sure there has to be better options out there if the owners did their research and took some good advice from people who know the game.
