What's your thoughts of the best save you've ever seen? My all time unbelievable save was by Simon Tracey. It was away at Old trafford versus Man ushited when Dave Bassett was in charge. Andrei Kanchelskis shot from the edge of the box and the ball looked destined for the top corner, until Tracey flew and saved it. I even remember the Man ushited fans were on their feet applauding:easy: like I say what a save, you always remember good goals but it's so easy to forget good saves. We did lose 0-2 .
I would also like to rake up the old argument of who was best Tracey or Alan Kelly. There is not much in it for me but Tracey just tips the scale because of the promotion season.
I will always think of Alan Kelly as the penalty king.

seaman at the cup semi finals got to be up there

Oh My God. When you look back ya gotta think that was physically impossible. lol

Physically impossible was how i'd explain the save by Tracey!! Kanchelskis shot was hit with such venom and towards the top corner. You had to see it to believe it. Seaman was just lucky that he had extra elongated finger-ends in his gloves that day!

I agree on the Seaman save. Couldn't believe that it didn't go in!

I wonder where we'd be now if that goal would have gone in?

The seamen save is by far the best save I have ever seen, not just in games involving the blades. It was like he dragged the ball back from behind him, I could watch the replay over and over again and still be amazed by it!

Lincoln Blade

I remember Mel Rees pulling off a Gordon Banksesque save against Everton at Goodison. It capped off a simply stunning performance by the man.

RIP Mel.

that seaman save looks like he's swimming in mid air when you watch it in slow motion.
my mates an arsenal fan and first time i saw him after match he said that should have gone in and only god and david seaman know how it didnt.

seen great some grate saves alan kellys penelty shoot out on st paddys day was memorable vas bobokis gave me his shirt that day before some one swiped it out my hand hmm wonder if they post on this forum?

The Seaman save at old trafford for me aswell.

I was sat right behind the net when that happend and I thought "How the f**k did he save that?!!!" :)

A Gordon Banks save; not that one but in a League Cup game, think it was a semi-final. Anyway it was Stoke against West Ham in 1972, unusually it was on the TV, and the Hammers got a last-minute penalty. Up steps Geoff Hurst, and anybody who saw him take one knew what it was going to be. He just absolutely bladdered the thing! Banks dived, realised this thing was going like a bomb straight down the middle just under the bar, did a spin in mid-air and fisted the thing over the bar. Amazing!!

I've seen some astonishing saves, and many a time I've said "How did <insert keeper's mane> get to that?", but Seaman's save was just unbelievable.

If you watch it on slow motion (I can. I bought that terrible cut-price video he did just afterwards), you can see his hand move up and round the ball to get more purchase to get it out.

People always went on about the Gordon Banks v Pele in the '70 World Cup (I won the video of that match in a quiz), but Seaman's save tops even that.

Banks did rather well in stopping that header though.
