Loved the Tap when it first opened but it's shite now. Only the fab interior in the newer room makes it worth the visit.

Great selection of bottles but they want your pants down and they're not pulling them back up.

Usually surly bar and door staff too.

York Tap is miles better.
Owned by the same people aren't they?

The Albion and the Cremorne were excellent Monday, although I hope the Albion is better stocked as we drunk it dry of lager!
The issue with the Tap in this respect is that they are adamantly NOT a "football" pub. As such they have a zero tolerance policy on chanting, singing etc. They don't generally allow fans in colours in either.

Yes I appreciate that, just wondered what time our singing friend was " invited to leave' ?
The doorman, doesn't seem to enjoy his job, whereas his female "doorperson" counterpart at the Sentinel couldn't be more polite and friendly, makes for a nicer atmosphere

What do you think has changed ? I suspect the bar staff previously were students looking to earn a bob and were quite engaging.

I've noticed the door staff, well one in particular, wouldn't know how to be friendly and polite if his life's depended on it. I may be being unfair as he may have mental health issues e.g. social anxiety, insomnia

Any others on here fancy meeting? I for one would like to put faces to names. I'm not a serial killer or owt. Promise.

I'd be up for this after the Chezzie game. Met a few off here, would be great to meet others.

The serial killer thing never entered my head, but I might bring me pepper spray now you've brought it up. Just in case, like...

Yeah deffo staff attitude for one. Bar and door.

Don't go in much these days but what annoys me is that they will serve until 11 but then get arsey if you've not drunk up by 10 past.

I've known a few of the staff in there socially (mates before they worked there) and I know they have issues with staffing levels. I've been drinking in there semi-regularly since it opened, as I'm one of these pretentious twats that likes to try a vast amount of new beers whenever I can, and I agree that it has lost "something" recently.

It's no longer our post-match pub of choice a lot of the time, simply down to how busy it gets and the amount of time it can take to get served. That said, on a quiet evening I can happily spend several hours and too much money in there, and find it thoroughly enjoyable.

If it's the one i'm thinking of he looks like he's bricking it at the thought of any trouble so probably can't be anything other than mardy as he's too worried.

I hope u stick ur pinky out whilst sipping that!!

Live from York Tap. I'm turning soft!View attachment 25988

That's embarrassing Rodley

I'm getting worried abaht thee lad, supping coffee in real ale pubs and wearing fancy dress to football, now get thee sen outside, phlegm on't floor, scratch the arse, and poop loudly, whilst leering crassly at passing females.

Salvation is nigh

Spot on. It's a stupid, made up Oirish-ism. The word is and always has been 'crack'.

Took my neighbour to task yesterday when she said she was taking her five year old to "the movies". Is there out wrong with me or am I exemplary ?

My kids (19 and 16) rip the piss when I talk about going to "the pictures" - I could live with "the cinema" but I'd never, ever, refer to the bloody movies.
