Not knocking the original poster here, but this forum makes me chuckle.

Lose a game and we're all reaching for the razorblades, win and it's Champions League in three seasons 🤣

Agree…..there’s rarely any rational thought….for the vast majority it’s all about the result.
Win and it doesn’t matter how we played….apparently we were great….lose and it doesn’t matter how unlucky we were….apparently we were crap.

Today 1st half was like most of our other recent matches….showed some good control of the game.
We looked comfortable and we saw plenty of patient sideways passing forcing Watford back…..then you realised we never looked like scoring.
A few of us on the Kop said we can only win this match 1-0 and it will be a goalmouth scramble or lucky richochet.

2nd half all the substitutions temporarily gave us an instant improvement and for about 15 minutes just before and after the goal we were really good. Loads of men forward putting Watford under loads of pressure kicking towards the Kop end….the crowd even made plenty of noise and you could see Watford starting to wilt.

However gradually Watford gained some composure and for the last 10 minutes we did the old “park the bus” routine.
It was a really nervy last 10 minutes as Watford just threw everyone forward and they did come close to equalising.
Really think we need a really quick striker in these situations so when parking the bus we’re still dangerous on the break.

Overall we deserved the win but Watford did come close to claiming a draw. Thought both teams looked mid table standard.

Cba to be edit but they were the best team first half too. I was at Hull the other week I thought we were unlucky to lose that game. Weird that a “result” changes fans perspectives

The best 45 mins I've seen of us was the first half against Bristol City on the opening day.
Went in 1-2 down, but I thought we looked different gravy in possession and was genuinely excited for a new era...

I've not been impressed with us at all since, but we'll have to take what we can get this season.
Nothing to get excited about, but a pleasing win and some small signs of encouragement.

That's where it's at.

We looked great playing 7 up front until half time when their Manager pointed out we weren’t playing anyone in midfield.

Some of the passing and off ball movement was excellent. I loved watching us attack in numbers.
But it all unravelled so quickly.

Glad to scrape a win. Every time we got it forward we passed it around until all their players got back to defend. Every time Watford got an opportunity they charged forward and had attempts. Why are we so slow to have a shot?

It might well have been our best performance, but still an annoying performance of passing it around too much.

Certainly an improvement with a long way to go yet. But positive signs.
Interesting moment for me in the first half was when Watford broke through the middle & had a half-chance - COH was going mad at the midfield & defence.
Both Mee & Peck went to talk to him & were pointing up front as if to say “you get up there & leave us to defend”. Maybe.
But bearing in mind how Campbell has been playing as a lone striker, maybe they were reinforcing the tactics - O’Hare to push on & look what happened in the 2nd half.
It’ll add some pace to our attacking if he’s up there facing forwards not running back & leaving Campbell isolated.

Not that there's much competition, but it was the best performance of the season. And, given the over all squad currently at his disposal, and injuries to key player, then, as far as I'm concerned Wilder and the rest of the staff have worked a miracle, and it's not the first time.

This league is hard.

Wilder did say he needed time with the players. That international break couldnt come quick enough for us.

2 weeks hard work and we are starting to gel.
In context they were the worst team we have played but wins a win

About right those comments neither side will push top 10 both may flirt with relegation but both will have just enough to survive
Watford worst side we’ve played thus far

Doubt it we still look like a poor team beating a poor team
he wasnt going to get a tune out of what he found on his return immediately , but we are slowly creating chances were we wre doing nothing

out shot and out did watford on touches in opposition box, and our pressing game looks a damn sight better
