A topical one for today... who would be your best Irish Blades XI from both the north and south? :)

Alan Kelly, Billy Gillespie, Derek Geary, Keith Gillespie, Paul McGrath, Alan Quinn and Small Quinn for starters.

McGrath was a class act. Apart from the Man City game (top memory!!) he was brilliant in his few games for us despite his drink problem and the fact that he had no knees!!

Colin Hill was handy enough back in the Bassett days.

Forever indebted to Alan Kelly for the Wembley performance among others ... "Football is a game of 90 mins. We weren't beaten it was a draw". A lame argument but it saved a bit of face.

Alan Quinn should have got more of a look it at international level. He was the best player on the pitch in Amsterdam vs Holland in an end of season friendly a few years back. Only a friendly but it was Holland's send off game before the World Cup and he was up against the likes of Davids, Van Nisterooy etc.

I'm astonished Geary didn't get a call-up from Muppet Manager Staunton 2 years ago when you see the likes of what was called up ahead of him (Leeds reserves).

Paddy was disgracefully treated by Staunton as well. He was used as the scrapegoat to blame for a 5-2 hammering by Cyprus ... dropped and replaced by West Brom's 3rd choice keeper!!!

Paddy's following match was in our humiliating 4-0 defeat to Holland in the next match though.

Granted, our 'tactics' were, erm, strange, but that was still the biggest ever home defeat (even though it was a friendly), and after conceding five v Cyprus (who had only ever scored five once before. Against Anbleedingdorra), he was never going to keep the shirt.
