Best goalie?

Didn't Hendo make a similar double save at home v Norwich in our promotion season? They broke away except I think it was 2 on 1. For me it's Hendo, Wes and Ramsdale a distant third. Whatever he does for Arsenal he didn't do it for us. And as said above genius to get up to £30 million for him. I thought his value would drop. Wes hasn't looked back since. The big test is the Prem if we get there.

Re the double save.

1st one is natural talent.
2nd is done to coaching training and agility.

Credit to him and our coaches.

I was a keeper albeit 5 aside and futsal due to height issues. But still stands.

Always rated him. You only see a keeper when he's called into action. What you don't see is how he controls is area before an attack breaks. Thus we can player higher up the pitch.

Been a real surprise package has Wes. From what limited appearances we saw of him in the Premier League, he looked poor. But, since he’s come into the side he’s looked incredibly solid and has perhaps been the most consistent goalkeeper we’ve had in years. Huge credit to him for working hard and turning himself from a 2nd/3rd choice goalkeeper into one of the best in the league.

It's weird I never used to feel confident with Wes because he just doesn't look like a goalie.
It might be an optical illusion but he looks about 5 foot 10 and about 11 stone.....your typical goalie seems to be 6 foot 4 and 14 stone.

Hendo was probably the best goalie, very influential, a talisman, capable of putting off great saves and even saving penalties.
However Hendo was always capable of a goalie blunder

Where as Wes is just this no frills, calm, consistent goalie......his presence seems to calm the defenders.....and also calm the fans too....he's so solid.

After watching many and varied talented keepers play for the Blades over the years (Derek Richardson anyone?), the best thing I can say about Wes is that my heart isn't in my mouth every time the ball is crossed into our box. I like the fact he catches a lot of crosses instead of trying to punch everything. His athleticism and agility are superb too.

Those two saves against Hull were excellent. His confidence and coolness under pressure comes from playing (mostly) behind a very solid defence.

If you gave Wes the distribution of ramsdale you would have the best Goalkeeper in the world

I would go Deano ---- Wes --- Ramsdale

If Wes was a couple of years younger and didn't have this 'League 1 Wes Stigma' attached to him, do you not think he would be worth £10m+ on his past 12 months?

He was for us , but he has been class for Arsenal TBF
I lived in London for 13 years and my best mate there is an arsenal fan (yes he does go to the matches and also has a soft spot for us ⚔️) says he’s a reyt signing for them. He asked me at the time my thoughts when they signed him and I was honest that he was shit then better than shit, got mistakes in him but is a good shot stopper. Thought we’d done well to get 30m I said. Down the line a few months and he said he was worth every penny and who are we to argue when we don’t see him play every game like my mate does 💁🏻‍♂️

Wes got his opportunity and took it when the goalkeeping position was all over the place. Ramsdale wanted out, Verrips came in and flapped more than a hummingbird then we got Robin Olsen who, despite being a seasoned international, made various embarrassing mistakes, got Covid and was never to be seen again.

Wes could have just took the spot, plodded along and stepped aside again when Olsen came back but he didn't, to the point that Olsen was waved off to Villa's bench without a tear shed.

Ramsdale took a long time to start looking decent, by which time we were doomed to relegation. Henderson made the odd mistake (Liverpool being pretty high profile) but he also made some incredible saves for us but he's in the lead at the moment. By the end of the season, that could all change because so far, he's shaken off any preconceptions anyone might have about him and looks a genuinely good keeper.

Henderson---->Wes----->Ramsdale for me.

Still think Ramsdale is over rated. 30m was a fantastic deal by the Prince.
Agree, I never felt comfortable with Rammys in goal.

He pulled off the odd good save but always seemed to make the goal look big. Even long range shots seemed to go in with Rammers in goal.

Was never impressed so it surprises me he’s done so well at Arsenal.

Lowe missed the second save! Funny that he wasn't even looking goalwards at that point given what was going on, hammy or no hammy
I'd believe you have never been in that situation.
Strange, as your post are generally measured and interesting to read.
