Best places for grub around the lane? Looking for ideas as we always end up in the same places:

Shapla - I think it's one of the best Indians in Sheffield. I generally like hot curries, but their Korma is to die for!

Cremorne - two pints and a pizza for a tenner is a bargain (a couple of seasons back it was two pints and a pizza for £8, and you could order Birra Moretti, which cost more than £4 a pint. They seem to have cottoned on to this scam though 😂). The pizzas are really good though!

Any other recommendations?

London Road
Norooz if you like grilled meat, basically Turkish style food and bring your own booze and cheap.

Cafe Indus really good curry/thali etc

Heard good things about kpasa a new resteraunt. Also apparently byob

Tapas in the beer engine is really good.

Or Kostas Greek deli near/on shoreham st

I like a liquid diet around football, but if you need solid sustenance, Dev Cat food is much better than it was before the revamp (not cheap though). Don't laugh, but for the money, the Sheaf Island (Spoons) isn't bad- there are worse Spoons and worse pub grub at much higher prices. Gets rammed though. For summat different the Street Food Chef cantina on Arundel Street does amazing Mexican (burritos etc). They had a wagon outside Triple Point brewery when it was Sentinel. If you're being minimalist, good pork pies at Sheffield Tap (nowt else except crisps though), and Man Friday chippy and buttie shop very near it on Shoreham Street are good!

Kpasa is nice had breakfast in there before liverpool match
shoram street greek is good
also try street food on chef arundal st

El Paso. Mexican next door to shapla, absolutely quality food

I actually had my first footy pie in about 20 years at the Liverpool match. Had it bought for me by the lad [Liverpool fan] I took in. Believe it or not, I rather enjoyed it 🙂

Was it one of those Moroccan chickpea and spinach(?) ones they now sell on the Kop?

No just a steak one. Although I wouldn't be entirely confident of the 'contents' 😳

Those you describe sound tasty enough.

Not had one myself but noticed them on sale at the first home game and thought they sounded very Premier League!

Roebuck is decent for food, I had a chip butty dolloped in Hendo's last time I had something there pre-match.

I stumbled across Fanoush on London Road a while ago after wanting something other than burgers, chips, pies and the like and some of you may mock falafel and halloumi but it was bloody lovely and their happy hour is something like 1-5 so you get £1 off. The Portuguese nata stall on the market is good if you're walking to the Lane that way and fancy something sweet.
If I need food usually go to Kosta’s on Shoreham St. Always enjoyed it.
Always contemplated it but never gone in but now it's been mentioned, I might have to stop off there next time :)

Prefer to go home and eat only way to guarantee not being poisoned 😉

The Special I had at Kebabish on London Rd was excellent but massive, the full mix kebab or the mixed donner is more manageable.

I can vouch for Fanoush - used to be a regular when I worked in Sheff centre. Like having a delicious kebab without any of the guilt or "after-effects"

We were refused service in the Tap as my lad had a United coat on. Not tried since, it was last year.

They've always had a 'no colours' policy. They're usually pretty good at letting you in if you can cover up (obviously not easy with a coat).

The shawarmas directly across the road from the Cremorne are fantastic and ridiculously good value for money.
Shawarma place opposite cremorne. 2.50 for a kebab in a freshly baked naan cooked in a tandoori. Cant beat it.

Seconded and thirded. Middle Eastern Shawarma, amazing grub and easy on the pocket.
