Not just cos of today but along with Pompey an 1 or 2 others I think we possibly have some of the best fans across the football league (English) Boxing Day struggling in league 1 but 19500... Says it about us!!

Oh yeah we have very good fans, to get 16k at home when we have been in the bottom four for most of the season shows how loyal the fans are.

We've got the best fans in the world because we're the best football club in the entire world. The rest can all fuck off, I'd rather have Sheffield United than anyone else. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter, Ajax, and all the others are second-rate chances.

I appreciate some may disagree, but if they're not Blades then fuck 'em. :D

I agree, although the quality is downgraded when the wannabe casuals turn up for the bigger away days. Just embarrassing for the club.

We also took more to Walsall on New Years day than Manchester City did to Swansea.

In terms of numbers, at least, our away support has been less impressive then our home support in recent years. Now in fairness, our away support in particular has had to watch a huge amount of rubbish over that time so it's not surprising that numbers have dropped off somewhat. However, I wonder whether some of the 6,000 who enjoyed their day following the Blades today might consider making it a regular thing - starting with the short trip to Nottingham on Saturday.

There is no reply to that, I'm sat here shaking my head.

Indeed, best part of £90 for a lad and his dad in their family enclosure. Once that sold out, no concessions elsewhere, so a minimum of £62 each.

Unfortunately Barca charge more than that.. Cheapest tickets at about £77

I was being sarcastic :).

You can get in the Nou Camp cheaper though, as we discovered after buying our tickets when we went the other month :)

Probably cheaper than going to Arsenal, cheapest ticket £62 today.
THAT shows that top league football is out of reach of the working man.
do the clubs care.?. IMO they rely on Television deals, sponsorship and the like.

I have been a United ite for over seventy years, as have Broomhill Blade and others..
speaking only for myself, I find the charges to attend games this season, to be obscenely expensive ,and way out of line with the current wage s available to enable supporters to attend.

Rright on.if I were in the U.K. I would be up for every away game, as I was before I came to New Zealand. Unfortunately when I look at the exchange rate betwixt the pound sterling, and the .N,Z dollar. I find that my dollar is worth only two thirds of what it was and during the same time scale match prices have increased considerably.
Have match prices remained in line with inflation. I suspect not.

Let's not get into that argument. You and I know that, if it was Wendy playing at Villa yesterday, they would have taken at least 60,000.

Yet watching the game yesterday the cameras showed plenty of kids, teenagers etc. in the crowd. I think stories like the £62 minimum (which was widely reported) and the ubiquitous 60,000+ crowds Arsenal always publish after every game at the Emirates - when loads of empty seats can be seen - are more a question of 'protecting the brand' than reality.

A ticket sold counts as attendance, even if no one turns up..It´s a bit daft really but safety regulations etc etc

That reminds me of our attendance in a 4th division match at home to Bradford in March 1982 being bigger than Liverpool's home league (1st division and they were champions that season) match against Birmingham on the same night!

I was thinking about this class divide business yesterday and the officials. I imagine referees all live in 5 bedroom mansions and linesmen in 3 bed semis ,or is that my mind going off on a tangent. Yesterdays linesman lived in a train station the amount of times he waved that fucking flag.

Talking of cost of football, a season ticket for the terraces at Tamworth this season was £250! Makes you realise what a good deal we get as season ticket holders; especially on the Kop £309 for mine and the young uns.

Unfortunately, we do appear to have over our fair share of 'knobheads'
In the Doug Ellis Lower yesterday there was about a dozen of them not that interested in the match just wanting aggro - some arrived ten minutes after kick off only to go out to the bar after thirty minutes for a pint and spent the whole second half chanting 'You're going to get your F*****g heads kick in at the Villa fans in the lower tier behind the goal.
You don't get many better away days than yesterday yet these guys just seem to want aggro !

They were the pretend BBC mate.

Also the BBC (tele company) published an article regarding the price of football earlier in the season ans we are the cheapest club in the top three leagues to go and watch, all things considered.

Just for comparison, I have bought tickets at three other venues other than the Lane in the last year. Prices:
Chelsea v Villa 90 pounds
Sevilla v Grenada 33 euro
Munich 1860 v Fc StPauli (twice) 30 euro in the seats 14 euro standing
Thankfully the Chelsea ticket was not for me but it gave one of my German colleagues at work a nasty surprise. How 90 quid can be justified is completely beyond me.

You underestimate London's quota of rich and obnoxious kids and teenagers.
