I know I might be odd when I say this but I quite liked Man City's kit they played in last night at Chelsea

Change the blue to yellow, stick a few stripes on and we have an away kit.

Best shirt - Last seasons home shirt. Ok, I get the argument that it should probably have been our away shirt but regardless, it's a very nice shirt, and I absolutely loved the old style badge on it.

Agree about the 96/97 kit. It was a thing of absolute beauty

And do you know what 13 year old stupid bastard Tyler Durden did with that shirt the year after? He cut out the badge and stuck it to the wall as part of a "Blades shrine", thereby utterly ruining it.

Someone gave me one a few years ago, size medium, but it's the size of a tent (not saying you need a tent, just that it's way bigger than a normal medium!!). I'll never wear it cause sadly it's way too big.

Looking back through our historical kits why more often than not have the shorts and socks both been in black?? Aren't our primary colours supposed to be red and white? I think it looks 100% better when we play in white socks and plus it makes a great contrast too.

No other red and white striped club usually has their socks white so it would make us a little more unique too if we were to make it permanent!

I'll say this again - and to all you photoshoppers on the upcoming 'next year's kit thread' (and I'm delighted that the start of it has been delayed this season owing to on field matters ) the home kit is simply this: Red & white striped shirt off a central red strip, black shorts, white socks. How hard can it be?

Agreed on the 97-99 Kit. Fucking awesome, though i never had it, only ever had the white 3rd strip. Regrets, i've had a few.

I may be imagining this, but did I hear that Dave Bassett had an input into its design and got some commissions on sales?

He did say, after the initial outpouring of ridicule that we would grow to like it. Well it's been over 20 years and there is still universal contempt for it.

I've tried arguing the same point about last seasons kit over and over again. It was a one time thing done in recognition of our history. It wasn't one of my favourites either, but it doesn't deserve the hammering it got.

Personally I loved the old badge and I'd like to see it again from time to time alongside our classically recognised one.
