A brief snippet from the social media team re. his progress. He comes across well, but it's also so evident that he's simply a young lad who wants to play football and the same appreciation of the need for time and maturity that Ampadu has since received here this week, could also be afforded to Sander.

Need that leg right for the Tues/sat/Tues fight next season

I think his size and mature personality make a lot of people forget just how young he is. If we hold on to him he could be a really big player for us next season. I hope everyone affords him the time and patience he needs on his return from a nasty injury. Time needed for recovery and to cement a position in the starting lineup.

For me he has the size, skill and reputation to take the piss in the championship. Given the right role and confidence in him

Superb player. He has largely been playing in a side devoid of confidence. Still very young but given his maturity and price tag I think some have expected too much from him in a league way beyond what he's used to in terms of physicality and technical ability. I really hope he's with us next season as he's going to be a huge player for us.

Get well soon Sander.

Sadly I don't think we'll see him many more times for the Blades. I've said before that he'll be a luxury we can't afford next season with the amount we've spent on Brewster and McBurnie and the reduced revenue he'll need moving on, probably at a loss.

I'm surprised at the backlash against him to be honest.
He's had an incredibly difficult year to try and settle in a foreign country where he can't mix with the other players, build friendships, even go out around the city. He's blocked from seeing his family or have any real support close to him.
Even more surprisingly when you see how the fans singing his name had an effect on him at Palace.

He's a class player, with all the right attributes we need to progress, and he seems like a really nice lad too.

I've posted previously about the fact that I don't see this great talent that everybody talks about.
For me the passing and movement just slows down and goes sideways and backwards when he gets involved. In recent games we're getting the ball forwards faster (more like last season) not lumping it either and we look more like scoring again.

I know a lot of people on here are happy to recoup the fee we paid for him. Personally I hope we can convince him to stay another season.

A fully fit Sander Berge is far too good for the Championship and having him in the team gives us a stronger shot at promotion.

I had a hip replacement exactly twelve weeks ago. My scar is half the length of Berge's Fortunately I had an anterior hip surgery which does not involve cutting through any muscle just clamping it to the side while they do the replacement This speeds recovery time But while I recognise that Berge is younger and fitter and he will have had daily rehabilitation and exercise advice from my recent experience I can't see him returning anytime soon.

Take your point about balancing the books.

But, unless someone big comes in for him and we can’t hold on to him, he would be a far greater asset on the pitch than the other 2 you mention.

Maybe ditch one of them instead !.

I agree, I’d rather have him here.

The only one who we’ll be able to sell is McBurnie as Brewster has done bugger all. Personally I wouldn’t be averse to that happening. I’m pretty sure you’d drive him to Outer Mongolia if required?!!

If we can keep him and build our team around him next season it will greatly improve our chances of being in the promotion mix. I don't really know his best position though in our formation. He's to good at going past people to just play as the sitting midfielder, but he doesn't really have a goal threat. For me he needs to play in a 2 man pivot and be allowed to carry the ball through midfield, similar to what dembele used to do for spurs.

No way should we sell him at a loss, surely with the parachute money and relegation clauses we can afford to keep him

Seems like a good kid and he's a lovely footballer, probably the best at the club IMO but he's a poor fit for the way we currently play. I wouldn't be averse to cashing in and reinvesting in 2 athletic midfielders for next season, especially if, as it looks we'll be playing in the championship.

Parachute money, relegation clauses, lower wage bill than several in the Championship, not oversent this season, young squad coming through.
Yeah, I agree and don't understand where the need to sell is coming from.
