Berge and MGW

That is true to some degree but money was spent in the wrong areas of the team when Wilder started spending big money. He made us too top heavy, reliant on players with potential who needed time to come good and also went for random cheap signings that were more Championship than Premier League players.

To be fair to Wilder when he started spending we had a fantastic back 5, signed Berge to sure up midfeild and we had an aging strikeforce which was our main area that needed strengtheneing. The prince didnt sanction high wages so we were alweays going to get potential over prooven experience.

I think the bollock was dropped when he didn't address JOC's situation.

I don't get this , rotation didn't exist 30 years ago, maybe just maybe playing every game keeps you fit , just maybe playing , not playing, playing , not playing is just as big a cause of muscle injuries , or maybe I'm just old and miserable now
When I see old football clips its so much slower. That classic TC goal? Walking pace. Players careers can last well into their mid to late 30s now as players are better looked after. They aren't doing it because it's a trend...there's science and experience behind it all!

Hadn't we run out of options after we couldn't reach an agreement with Maupay. McB was signed very late and don't think there was anyone else we could go to - although I still find it a bit daft we didn't try and get Bowen to the club from Hull.

UTB
Didn't Bowen sign for about £80k per week at West Ham? Probably why we were never in for him

Play both. That's the answer. We were seriously good yesterday. It means a lone striker but so what MGW had freedom to roam. Swansea were poor but we made them look poor.
I wanted to ask anyone who went to Swansea game about Berge, looks like from these comments that he played well ? Right side midfield further up looks a good option where he can drive at defenders to create assists, and even score himself - remember the goal he got at home v Preston, from exactly that position.

Interestingly (and this might be a tiny point) when he gets to a position where he crosses the ball into the box or a pull back I don't remember him much crossing balls for a header, all his work is on the floor and accurate, perfect for Billy and MGW, and that ball he played from the flank v Huddersfield for Fleck which should have been converted - we don't have a good striker at heading so what Berge delivers is ideal.

Let's hope he starts v Blackburn and continues to impress .....

Morgan Gibbs-White looks a £20m player.
Pretty sure he'll be back in their squad next season.

There are things he needs to work on, his temperament is a big one and also his decision-making at times (I admire the ambition, but sometimes he needs to just recycle and play for the team).
I'm not sure what his ceiling is, but as a minimum he should have a very successful career in the Premier League at a club like Wolves.

As for Berge... I've made jokes about the amount of excuses that are made for him and it's only partly tongue-in-cheek.
He has so many tools at his disposal but at some point he needs to realise that the onus is on him to grab his career (and games) by the scruff of the neck and force the issue.
MGW does it (or at least tries to) every match. Berge still waits for the ball to come to him in the right areas before doing anything, he isn't looking for work enough and is only showing flashes in patches.
The Swansea game was a stride forward, he needs another 10-15 of those now.

McBurnie seemed like the only striker he wanted after Maupay turned us down.
Maupay really wanted to play in the PL and was willing to come.

However he wanted to stay in South London. He was hoping for Crystal Palace to want him but Brighton showed interest and it’s not too far, so he can stay in London.

Agree. Berge looks like a £22.5 million signing now. In retrospect Wilder's signings don't look so abysmal. JLT looks worth every penny of 0.5 mill. You have to give them time. The problem was in the Prem we needed 'oven ready' not potential.

Regardless of the fees, 2 season's worth of "time" is overkill at this level.

I am watching wolves now, how the fuck MGW cant get in this wolves team is beyond me 🤷‍♂️
He wasn’t good enough to play in the Premiership, but is now getting there with games and confidence growing.
His press interview today shows an intelligent footballer who should become a good Premiership player (perhaps with us?)
