Sheffield United keeper Ian Bennett has signed a one-year contract extension, despite interest from other clubs.

The Blades' number two goalkeeper, 36, joined the club in 2006 from Leeds United and has made eight starts

Maybe so, but it is interesting to hear who Blackwell is including in "his" first-team training squad, i.e., just who are the players that he thinks he has not seen enough of and who might then find themselves added to the squad - or gone.

Personally thought we would have Dean Brill amongst the ranks by now, but agreed regards Benno, good keeper and happy to keep him.

Good shout about Brill, Rob but do you think we would have been able to keep him and Paddy happy?

Benno is steady, no nonsense and at that stage in his career where he could well be happy playing second fiddle. Think it would be a different story with Brill.

Na, seriously though. It depends on what aspirations Brill has. Most teams have a decent number 1 who they will have to contend with in the top 2 flights, so I think at his age (about 23) he would have to be realistic about the chances of him being a number one for a big(ish) team.

If he does feel he could be better than Kenny, or in fact most other keepers for other teams, he should have no qualms in joining anyone.

In all seriousness,I've heard lots of people saying Kenny has gone stale and its time to move him on. Don't agree myself.

I wouldn't say "stale" as such, but I do have concers with him.

His kicking at times is shocking and could be bettered by anyone. His decision making is also questionable, he has a tendency to go for balls that he doesn't have much chance to get to first, but doesn't claim balls that he should be doing. He gets beat from distance far too many times, but he is a saviour because of some of his performances for us.

I've always thought Paddy was a little "line-happy" at crosses and the like but you're right, he has saved us on many occasions and his reflexes are still top-drawer.
