Just thought I would let you all know that my lad Ben made his debut today for Poland against Jordan Under 20's in a friendly tournament in Amman. They drew 1-1 .

This is a warm up tournament before the Under 20's World Cup in Canada in July. His first game there will be against Brazil on 30th June, with a crowd of 63000.

why do i feel like someone is on the wind-up

It is his mum.

Every time we get someone with a connection with the blades, everyone jumps on them and scares them away! We've had ex-players who never returned because people called them liars (after I verified they were who they said they were).

Great to hear the good news though Bladesmum!, pity it hasn't had more coverage on the official site etc. Congratulations to you and Ben!, must be a proud moment seeing the lad turn out for an international side.

Make sure you keep us updated!, have watched his progress keenly whenever possible in the reserves/youth.

63000???

are there any stadiums in canada that big??

Yes we are very proud of him.

They are playing at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal which holds 65,000 apparently. First game on 30th June, we'll be there, I cant wait...

You're forgiven Rotherham

Bladesmum, Do you reckon he will ever be given a chance with united or cast off without being given a chance like most of our other youngsters?

Foxy, what former players have come on here? Is Kozluk one of them? Did he ask after me?

That's great Bladesmum. You enjoy yourselves.

Pass on our best wishes to Ben.

It's a great stadium, and if you haven't been before, you will love Montreal!

Great news for the family, hope this gets some more coverage, as Foxy stated there's hardly anything on the OS.

All the best!

I hope Ben does well good to see another international player in the making.

Nice to hear this from yourself.

Must admit never seen him in action, and I always release him on football manager, but hey what do I know?

Good luck to him :D

keep us updated!

hope he does well!

good luck to him and you!!

Pass on our best... you must be thrilled to bits :)

We'll certainly be keeping an eye out on the score... nice to see anyone connected with the Blades getting international recognition!

congrats and all the best, Lets hope he can make a Name for himself, love to see more of the youths coming through the ranks and putting pressure on the first team, its what we need so that they dont get too complacent (sp) and lazy

All the best...........again

I think we'll see more of Ben now Kozluk has gone.
What i've seen of him in the reserves he is very good playing at full back, i'm not 100% sure if he prefers full back to CB but he looked better at FB than CB IMO (too many initials there I know, sorry).

Good luck in Canada.
Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, he's a blade and he's a blade! :)

make sure he stays at the lane then if hes good ;p

excuse me mrs bladesmum :D

have you got a niece called natalie, did she leave school last year?

Ben has apparently been made captain for the next game! :)

Good stuff!

A news story from the OS...

Blades prospect Ben Starosta says that he can't wait for this summer's FIFA U20 World Cup after making his international debut for Poland.

The Sheffield-born youngster, who qualifies for Poland through his Grandfather, played the full 90 minutes of a 1-1 draw in a friendly with Jordan in Amman.

Right-back Ben said: "It was a good experience. The language barrier is difficult sometimes, but I understand a bit of Polish and a few of the lads can speak a bit of English so, when you're on the field, you just shout for the ball."

Ben is joined in the Poland squad by a small contingent of English-based players, including Southampton goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski, who played in the Saints' Championship Play-Off Semi-Final first leg versus Derby County in May.

Poland's U20 side are involved in a mini-tournament in the Middle East with further games planned over the weekend. The matches are a warm-up for the FIFA U20 World Cup which takes place in Canada, starting later this month.

Poland's first Group D game is against the rising stars of Brazil in Montreal on 30 June. They then remain in Montreal to tackle USA on 3 July and Korea Republic three days later.

An excited Ben continued: "I'm staying in Jordan until 12 June and then I go to the World Cup in Canada. They've told me that I'll be in the tournament squad.

"The first one is against Brazil on TV. I'm told about 65,000 tickets have been sold for that game already!"

Ben, who signed a two-year contract extension with the Blades in May, is a regular in United's Reserve sides after coming through the Academy system.

He added: "I think Poland knew of me when I received the Player of the Tournament award in the Milk Cup with United a couple of years ago, they kept tabs on me and eventually I got the call.

"I'm just a normal, Sheffield lad - to get to play in the U20 World Cup is fantastic. I can't wait."
