Player Suggestion Ben Mee

Everyone is always on Robinsons back, clearly I'm alone on this one but imo bindon doesn't look better, RND certainly wasn't, so we'd be crazy to sell him, when youre getting in a 35 year old, we've bought a young unproven centre half, we've got other young uns that aren't certain of making the level, ok tanganga is proven at this level. All it takes is a long term injury, see soutter, a red card or multiple yellows and were straight back where we started. Is he prime bobby Moore, no, does he occasionally drop bollocks, yes, but so does everyone at some point, look at anel he was often out of position, but for some reason he got excused, Robinson should stay as a very good back up. In our last Premier league campaign I think that Robinson was one of very very few players to come out of it with any credit. This bandwagon is one I'm certainly not jumping on.
Robinson as a back would just about be acceptable however if he stays and is disruptive (as some reports suggest) then he's got to be moved on.

Nobody is saying that players can't, and won't, make small errors like getting caught out of position or whatever. The problem with JLT is the frequency with which he makes big mistakes. Such as Sunderland away, where he attempted to clear the ball away under no pressure, with his weak foot, and scuffed it perfectly into the path of their lad to run in on goal and score. Anyone with half a brain could see he had time to control the ball, and make a very safe pass back to Cooper to nullify that threat. Instead, he panicked and fucked up. Something which is not uncommon for him. When you consider the fact that we are trying to implement a tactical style that depends on the centre backs being comfortable on the ball, Robinson is simply not up to the task expected of him.

RND got absolute pelters vs Brizzle for his mistakes which led to goals, and yet we're supposed to give Robinson the benefit of the doubt just because he shouts at officials and throws himself into tackles now and then? Not for me.

Hope this is ready to go if/when Robinson to Watford is completed.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but are we allowed to sign free agents outside the transfer window?
As long as the player is a free agent prior to the conclusion of the transfer window, yes we can sign him (provided they're eligible to play in the UK and what not).

Aside from all the noise about Hamer going this transfer for me is critical in terms of experience, leadership and CB aerial ability. I would have expected this to be done and dusted by now. We really do drag transfers out. Mee in the defence against Boro would have given us a better chance of getting something.

The delay I can only assume is down to terms and contract length which Mee may be holding out for in the hope someone else comes in for him at the 11th hour. We cant afford to lose him unless Hamer is going and funds are freed up for Bobby Thomas. The need for a commanding CB is once again being deferred until the last minute. We dont seem to have learnt any lessons.

you may well have made a good point there addison are we holding off giving mee a contract with hamer robinson and maybe a couple of others on their way out if it frees cash up for thomas and it could be having a knock on effect on coventry's quest of charlie hughes gonna be an interesting 2/3 days

Bindon is weak as piss
The notion of loaning a 20 year old CB seemed flawed from the outset....

Don't mind 20 year old wingers or CAMs or even full backs. But in the Championship you want your CBs to be grizzled and experienced...

Seemed a strange choice. Especially as we've blown shit loads on CBs after that too.

Get him in we need to replace Bindon already - we then have 2 younger back ups, although I’d send Bindon back if possible either in this window or next.

If he's fit I would like Ben Mee to start, but I wouldn't send Bindon back to Forest.

He's in the same boat as Burrows was this time last year, stepping up to play his first season in the championship, and Burrows didn't exactly start well either.

A bit of time on the bench, plus coming on for short spells in games might be better for him at the moment.

I agree but isn’t this how we end up paying for lengthy deals for aging players that harm us in the last 18 months of their deals?
These are the tough choices, do we fold and offer the extra years/wages or risk it and sit it out hoping we’re the best offer he gets?

We’ve been unfair on Bindon so far. He wasn’t brought in to be the lynchpin of the defence.
He needs taking out the firing line and bringing back in once our defence is better organised and established. Mee and Tanganga would do that but the former would need some rest you would think in a 40 game season.

You’d have to think that with our unique way of doing things, Mee will have to wait around until Robbo has signed for someone else. If true that’s a dangerous game to be playing.
Or maybe I’m wrong and he’s exploring all options before Monday night - in which case he’s not showing much commitment to the cause.

He’s out of contract so Monday night is irrelevant!

Mee is a free agent and he can arrange a deal after the Monday cut off.I imagine he will have had other offers and has no need to make a decision in a hurry. It’s unlikely he will choose us after seeing our early season offerings,he’s probably still trying to work out the ‘Selles’ style,if he does manage to,it will be a resounding …..no thanks !!

It would be even more justifiable if we switch to a back 3 like we should

Tanganga / Mee / Godfrey
Bindon / Robinson / Zatterstrom

And if Robinson is a problem, he won't be if we appoint a manager who he respects
