I'd love to know what our strategy was in this window. We seemingly didn't go for players like Harry Darling or Jimmy Dunne, even though they were available on frees. And now we're so desperate for experienced defenders that we're trying to sign a guy who will be 36 next month.

Hopefully he's still got something in the tank and isn't Paddy McCarthy 2025.

Ridiculous to miss out on those first two players (or not even attempt to bring them in).

Those will have been 2 of the 4 wilder had ready to go, that would have been 4 starters and improved us.

I'm not sure Seol or Thomas move us forward very much.
I'd rather we aimed higher in the long-term signing market.

In the meantime, Ben Mee should be a decent squad option for the year.
If it's as simple as:
Robinson out, B. Mee in .. then I'm all for it.

I think that's definitely what it is, which is a strengthening of the squad, assuming his legs still work.

I wonder who was 100% behind the free signing of Jags? I was. For context, Jags had played 7 games for Everton in the previous season when he signed for us. He was also 2 years older than Mee, playing in a league above. Mee played 11 games last season for Brentford.

This would be a great signing. Excluding Moore, i cant remember a time when signing an experienced head hasn't helped our situation. That's going back to the Warnock era when our bench was a retirement home...

Would really add to experience of the CB club if we are going with him, Bindon, Thomas and Zätterström.

If he's happy to player a more father figure role and not play every game to help develop the others, this signing would be absolutely spot on

Proper leader in the dressing room and on the pitch, desperately needed, and at 35 I wouldn't mind him being here for longer than a year in that leadership capacity.

I can remember the reaction when we signed Stuart McCall and we didn't start that season well neither. Wayne Allison came on v Walsall on the second match and got booed! Both of those signings didn't do too bad in my view. I think Mee is exactly what we need. We need leaders.

It’s an ok signing if we aren’t expecting him to actually play much football.

If he’s coming in to be an old experienced head in the dressing room settle things down for the young lads and be an extension of the manager on the training ground and he’s just the first of several CB’s coming through the door then it’s sensible business.

If we’re signing him because we hope he’ll play in 30+ games this season we’re fucking mad. Time will tell I guess
