Something did happen. I'm not entirely sure what but there was a fall out. Notice Mee fails to mention Wilder in his statement.

Not sure it will ever come out unless Mee releases a book

I think so and I also think that was partly the reason our form dropped as sharp as it did.

Wilder has barely mentioned Mee's name since January and the press have clearly been told not to ask about him.

Alan Knills nephew posted something on X earlier today that suggested there had been a fall out. Since deleted though so maybe got into trouble for saying too much !

A lot of wilder haters just choosing not to acknowledge the fact Ben Mee has chosen a photo of him and wilder together, obviously showing the reason isn’t a fallout with wilder

I don't put much stock into the idea that footballers are choosing social media photos for cryptic reasons, but for what it's worth Mee hasn't posted a photo of him with Wilder. That's a fan-run account that has posted the photo along with Mee's message from Instagram:

Ah. In other news how do you delete posts?

I don't think anybody has criticised Wilder over this have they? If Knill's nephew is right then, then there might have been a good reason behind the fall out

Surprises me as Mee is the type of character & experience that Wilder usually respects & protects even if they don’t see eye to eye on everything.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see him turning up at the pigs next season. They’ll be mostly reliant on freebies who are at the end of their careers, but with some experience.

Yeah but like last season he didn’t utilise Holding often either. Why would you rely on Robinson over him?

Wilder is blinded by his stubbornness sometimes. We can all see that experience was needed in that defence. He goes and gets Leo who’s just got promoted with Sunderland and he can see Burrows is struggling defensively in matches but opts to not utilise Leo to see out a game.

Why bang on about “experienced heads” if you are hardly going to use them? Is it because they may question some of his tactics.

It would be a shame if there has been a fall out. For two reasons.

1. Whilst the manager's word is final, I want my senior pros to have an opinion and healthy challenge in the dressing room.

2. If he is as highly thought of as other suggest, we should keep him around the place as defensive coach and in the future, a possible head coach, learning from the Keith Andrews trajectory.

This is one of the issues with wilder though innit. Absolute ego on him. His way is the right way and if you don’t agree your out.

Mee is a well respected player at all of his clubs, comes across as a Wilder sort of character but somehow Wilder falls out with him.

This is why many of us worry about this version of Wilder, the old Chris would have likely made Mee captain and the leader of the dressing room.

Based on his performance, I think he retired before the Mansfield game.

He retired during the move that led to Mansfield's fourth. I've rarely, if ever, seen a defender given up like that during an attack.

Everyone's dark mutterings about a bust-up, I think Mee was just dropped because he was playing like a twat.

As I said at the time, criticism of Mee for Mansfield’s fourth is a bit wide of the mark.

Something clearly went off behind the scenes with Kim Jong Wilder*.

Mee (correctly) took pelters for his role in the build up to Mansfield's fourth goal last Sunday. However, what seems to have escaped most people's notice is that the very left footed, left sided centre half was defending in the wide right centre half channel because the right sided centre half (McGuinness) was nowhere to be seen.

I suspect it's probably more to do with the last sentence here. He'll have been close to triggering an extra year we didn't really want to give him. He got us from bottom to mid-table when the defence's confidence was shot which is realistically what we signed him for.
How many games does it take to trigger Jario’s extension as that has happened yet and do we know that there was a clause in Mee”s contract that triggers automatically as another one in Ings has only started 5 in 23 appearances, are contract extensions based on control from the player or the club has the final decision ?

I suspect that he stopped being involved for a reason like this.

And perhaps his age was showing in training? Given he's retiring too?

Could have been a falling out as well.

It could be a combination of these. Which is likely more true than just Wilder simply falling out with him and bombing him out. But that doesn't suit some narratives people want
