seems to get a lot of stick, but I’ve been very impressed with him. He’s strong, fast and reads the game well. I played as a centre half so I tend to watch defenders more than most and I really enjoy the way he plays.

In a new defensive shape that everyone is getting used to, and after a long time without playing much, I think he’s settled in really well.

I also thought he had a very good game yesterday and didn’t put a foot wrong.

Is it just me though?

He's a very good footballing CB, however he gets bullied by a big CF and is weak in the air.

He'd actually be perfect in the Wilder system.

Steady enough for this league. Good footballer, reads it okay- if he was also lightning and brilliant in the air he wouldn't be on loan with us. He'll do for me, anyone slating him think back 3 weeks to the previous incumbent and he suddenly looks like Maldini

Of the two, himself & Egan, I think B Davies has performed the better.

Very good player imo

Agree with what others have said about him. He’s a good player, reads the game well, comfortable on the ball.

I’d give up some of that passing ability for him to be 2-4” inches taller, a few pounds heavier, and have a love of bullying opposition players at corners in either penalty area.

Reminds me of Alan Hansen on the ball. Stronger on his left, but appears to be 2 footed as well.Didnt play for half a season, joined us with some fitness issues. Getting and better game by game

He's ok.

Good technical footballing skills, although he has a tendency to Norwood a pass to the opposition.

Not convinced on the heading, tackling or strength fronts.

He's different to what we've become used to but has been getting steadily better in my opinion. My biggest issue with the defence at the moment is that they are constantly sucked into the middle, leaving masses of space to exploit on the wings. I initially thought that Baldock was struggling to cope with playing 4 at the back but it was the same with Bogle on Saturday and he hardly played in a back 5. We regularly have 3 in the centre marking 1 forward, leaving 1 or 2 players unmarked, it's no wonder we get overrun at times.

Struggled at first but improving every game. Reads the game really well. His position to lose.

Better than C-3PO but not as good as JOC.

I think if people start thinking of him as a signing from Preston rather than Liverpool he's an acceptable signing.

That's pretty much how I see him. I actually think the premier league could suit him with a team like Brighton.

Technically very good, a footballing centre half........ Just wish he was better at defending and tackling tbh, would be some player if his defending was top level.

He's looked very solid, I think its easier to assume that he's crap because a few on here say it, likewise if a player has a good game, then he's suddenly a world beater.

Often the steady players and their performances get overlooked. Ben Davies is one of those players and if we had the chance to sign him permanently then we should. He's certainly a step up from the likes of Ampadu and Robinson. He can play in a back 4 or a back 3 and works well with Egan/ Stevens/ Norrington-Davies.

He's not JOC, but i think we all realise that JOC has been a fantastic gem of a signing. His dominance in the air is something we missed last season and perhaps more so this season. If only we had a big bastard of a player to win the balls in the air!

I think Davies playing alongside a brick shithouse type would be as good as you'd get in the Championship. Of the two, I would be looking to replace Egan rather than Davies, with the aforementioned brick shithouse.

He's good at a number of things. Unfortunately I have been less than impressed with his tackling, or heading under pressure. I thought he would be better than this.
Tackling seems to be something that none of the team want to do when there are opposition running toward utds goal. They all appear to give up and just let it go, which is why saturdays goal happened

If we could sign two players then I'd tweak our shape.

We'd need an athletic ball winner in midfield, someone who could protect the back four and move play on.
And I'd also bring in a big dominant centre half.

..................Olsen
Bogle Egan CB Davies Stevens
...................DM
MGW.....McGoldrick.....Ndiaye
..................Sharp

This would solidify us without losing any of our attacking outlets and would also get the best out of our defensive options.

I think Davies has been better than Egan recently. We are crying out for a tough CB who is good in the air though and have been since JOC got injured.

I am starting to think Davies probably wasn't a replacement for JOC, even though Wilder wanted him before he went to Liverpool.

Jake Cooper would have been a better target in the old Wilder system. Left footed, 6ft 3, can grab a goal and doesn't mind a tackle.

A formation with 1 proper midfielder in this division gets mullered every week

I'd agree with this, I think since we've lost JOC and now Bash is having a spell out of the side, Egan's role has become a little more exposed. In fairness to Egan, he's also having to readapt from being effectively a sweeper in a 3 that reads the game very well and cleans up to a centre half pairing which doesn't have the dominant ball winner in the air.

I actually think that Egan and Davies are both intelligent players, comfortable on the ball and can be a good partnership, which they will be, i just would like to see more dominance and agression from them.
