Behind twice and we still go on to win

Going onto win a match from a losing position is always fantastic but to do it when you have twice been in a losing position is even better (as we did yesterday!)
I can think of another occasion we did it , in one of the strangest matches of all time, a 5-3 win against Cardiff in 2003. All the goals were in the second half, Ndlovu scored a hattrick and our keeper Gerrard had a dodgy game.

Cos if it does please could i have a point for the Colchester game during the League One years, and a bonus point for our 3 goals coming within the space of 5 minutes. Which makes me think "When have we scored 3 times in 10 minutes" would make a good thread in its own right (and to think Burnley would have been hugely relieved to have conceded just the 3 goals scored during those ten minutes!)

Strictly speaking this doesn't quite answer your question, but in 2017 we went 3 successive games, all away from home, with 17 goals scored (v Rochdale 3-3, Oldham 2-3, Swindon 2-4).

Millwall at home, the Tuesday after the Battle of Bramall Lane.

Behind 0-1 and 1-2 and still being on 87 mins, Ndlovu scored twice to get up the 3-2 win.

If its the game i remember i was working in executive suite and it kicked off there they were calling young barmaids (slags etc) and we kicked them out while they got battered by the doormen and bar staff then kicked out of suite and went for a drink in railway and promptly got battered again

Woody's goal may have been the second (Silent will confirm), but I do remember the headline in the Green 'Un was "GOAL GLUT AT BRAMALL LANE" as the score went from 0-1 to 3-2 in about five minutes.

GOAL - v West Ham (h) 10.4.76. United got back on level terms with one of Woodward's vintage goals. There was no hint of danger when Franks pushed the ball to him well outside the penalty area, but Woodward, with that lazy swing of his right foot, hit the back of the net from way out with Day looking stunned by it all, as well he might.

That Jack Lester goal is one of my favourite ever and doesn't get talked about enough. Absolute quality.

Whilst it is not the same as being behind twice of course, I think the consensus amongst the stattos and those with long memories was the Colchester game is unique in our history, in that it is the only time that we have ever been 2 goals down with 80 mins gone and won the game.

If I recall correctly, this game was also memorable because when 'Love Parade' started playing pre-match, a large number of the visiting Cardiff supporters in the BLUT took off their shirts and started swinging them around their heads like they were at a rave. This carried on for about 10 minutes, I remember it being pretty cold as well. Fair play to them!

That was both coming back from losing twice AND being two goals down to win.

This is the rub for me, now I'm getting older, games like the Cardiff one, and Burnley are proper entertainment - they live long in the memory. The PL isn't as exciting, not for a club like us, simply hoping to scrape enough points every season. If we could keep this team together i'd sooner stay in the championship and be entertained and excited, but of course that's the problem, our only chance of retaining Iliman, Berge, Anel, McBurnie, etc. is to get promoted.
