So long as they can erect Steel and lay Bricks, Yes ....Or buy some players?
I read a post on the footballground forum that the H & S regs only apply to new builds.
As ours would be a bolt-on extention design instead of a new stand then assume they may not apply to the original stand.
Assume the current seats stay as they are but the upper seats would have more leg room.
However I don’t know for sure, it’s just something another poster said.
Some would say they are slow off the mark ......... which is where we will be, slow off the mark
nah that's Steve Bruce sunbathing!
Its the Olive Grove waste disposal. Wendy played there until 1900Isn’t that the indoor training air dome thingy at the Middlewood Road training ground.
Do they still have the row of porta cabins? used as changing rooms.
Their training ground hasn’t changed since the 70’s
Increasing capacity should be seen as a bonus if we rebuild the Kop, not a priority. Other things are more important and there's a lot of room for capacity increasing with the South Stand, and the Kop corners.
It's a shame we have little tangible benefit from the last time we were there, including the parachute payments and Tevez money, which make me more keen to invest in infrastructure when the opportunity arrises.
Build a new south stand in the car park, knock the old one down, drag the pitch over
Huge Kop built at the back of the old one, lined up with the new pitch position
Bramall Lane stand knocked down along with the hotel, new stand built lined up with the pitch
The back of this stand straddling Bramall Lane with a tunnel for the road through
John Street stand knocked down, plenty of room now the Pitch has been dragged over

Exactly. Investing in significant infrastructure - something good that can never be taken away - will always be wiser than a short term spend on a player or two. It's a complete no brainer. Take the Desso spend as an example and multiply that benefit and effect by 100 for any quality Kop rebuild. It could be the best Kop in the country, improve our home atmosphere and come to define the club. What's an extra 2 or 3 thousand seats in comparison to that?
Exactly. To further the Liverpool comparison. Their matchday revenue was 19 million higher last season than before they built the main stand. And 12 million higher during the previous season. They have that money every season going forward. If people want to see United as a premier league stalwart - infrastructure development is paramount. We're already in a better position than last time we went up due to upgrades on the ground.
Agree....that’s why I think the board will prioritise the South stand over the Kop, eventhough the Kop is more urgent to the fans having the worse facilities in the stadium.
Also there’s a saturation point on corporate facilities. Is there a massive demand in Sheffield where there’s a big shortage?
We have them in the John Street stand and some in the South stand.
Some have suggested flattening the Kop site, so we can put corporate facilities in there too
But if we’re thinking about doubling the corporate space in the South stand doubt we also need corporate facilities in the Kop too.
McCabe is an expert in property developement, so you would imagine he will have his finger on the pulse
And will have all the data and expert speculation about the best use for the stadium.
There are some tough decisions to be made but most of them will be business/ financial based.
It’s unrealistic to expect a director to donate 30 plus million on a stand for no financial return, it would be madness.
Also. Last fans would rather millions be spent on players instead of giving a few inch extra knee room.
Remember the current Kop design is cost effective, increases capacity, removes the pillars for a perfect view and provided excellent c0ncourse facilities all under cover. It’s only the rake and the knee room that remains the same, however the 3000+ seats at the back will have a steeper rake and more knee room, so there will be an option to move towards the rear.
The corporate facilities are full, or near as damn it for every 'big' game.We can also sell to premier league club's supporters. Then there's events in which they can be sold to punters going to concerts etc. Corporate facilities on the half way line are more valuable than behind a goal; so it makes sense to put them in the South Stand. I wonder if safe standing would ameliorate the leg room issue that exists on the bottom two thirds of the Kop?
Agree..I remember in early reports the Kop extension was the priority but I sense the club have shifted this to the South stand now.
I remember the report saying we need to reach the PL and retain our place there for 1 season, then the diggers will be brought in. It’s proabky wise to keep the Kop plans on hold until the future of safe standing has been sorted.
Has anyone noticed that if and when our ground is finished it will have a close resemblance to the current Anfield.
A big Kop behind the goal, a 2 tier smaller stand behind the other goal and one gigantic imposing multi tier stand. It’s just the John Street stand that’s different as Liverpool have a bigger double tier on the other side.

Anfield even has the same orientation as our ground. The view from the John Street stand would look something like this with the big Kop on the left of the photo and the small 2 tier Bramall Lane stand to the right.
If we put the TV gantry in the John Street stand our new stadium would look well impressive on tv.
Your TV gantry idea would be like going back to our roots, in a media sense!
There is a slight disadvantage with the TV gantry sited in the John Street stand idea.
When we’re not in the PL I wouldn’t expect the top tier to be opened
So for Championship matches it would be a little embarrassing looking on tv with a top tier completely empty (I’ve seen this several times at Leeds and Cardiff, they also have a top tier on their main grand stand and sometimes don’t bother opening it).
Altho overall think it would still probably make the ground look more impressive with the view from the JS stand.
