I've just had a look at the thread on Porktalk about it.

Apparently, their attendances are great compared to ours when you factor in their ticket prices, and it says a lot about the relative size of the clubs.

Their attendances are averaging about 500 more than us. They fudge their numbers, the sane ones say so themselves, nowhere near the announced numbers at games.

They've also played a lot of the top end teams in the division at home, we've had Wolves and I suppose those yellow and green fuckers, but one of those was an evening KO. I believe they also generally give bigger away allocations than we can.

Yet more bollocks. Not that attendances mean owt really.

We are arguably playing the best football for years. Like for like and I don't care how much their overpaid players cost, we blind them for entertainment week in and week out.

I wonder actually how much money you get from Sky for being live on TV because our good football had meant Sky will have had us on live about 6 times this season by New Year because I'm betting that's more financially beneficial for us than a ticket price bump of a couple of quid, also attracts other sponsors.

Being a season ticket holder and living in Liverpool. I have to factor in a train fare of about £25-30 for every home game. I'm happy that despite the added cost. I'm still getting value for money compared to other clubs!.

Let's say it's doubled, which is probably conservative since they just signed a new rights agreement, so by the time we've played Wendy in January we'll have been on 7 times (I think). That's £1.4 million, or equal to increasing every ticket in the ground by £2.25 if we get a crowd of 27,000.

I disagree, it will always baffle me why people support a team at the other end of the country when they don't have a link to that team, other than "they're good" or their mum/ dad/ aunt/ uncle supported them because they were good. They're still supporters of that team, so they should be surveyed to get a true picture.

You can also look to those local teams and what they're doing to attract young fans. Pig fans have said in the past that United have boosted their attendances through 'quid a kid' offers, but these are the future of our club. We do this to get young fans interested in the club and it works. But it only works long term when these kids reach adulthood and can afford to go to games. If as young working Blade I was having to pay nearly GBP 500 for a season ticket at United I just wouldn't have gone. The fact that we charge under 300 for our cheapest is a real plus point for the club. Though they can always do more

Many folk are using this thread to have a dig at Wednesday’s pricing policy but are overlooking one important point....despite the high prices the fans are still turning up in numbers. Their season ticket sales are greater than ours and the match day gates are similar or slightly higher at present.

So it’s a more profitable way to run that business in the short term, and us, by comparison, are throwing money down the drain by not charging more.

If our fairer pricing policy leads to more folk coming through the turnstile in future then great! But at the moment it looks like there’s a good case to support a higher pricing policy.

It was £100k per game last season so I'd be surprised if it's doubled.
