Yes there are lots of other choices. I personally think the BBC is a bit different to those you list, but I can see I will not persuade you so each to their own 👍

I just think it's a model that's not sustainable. because of its inability to justify. some of. the spending ....like the week long jaunt at glastonbury where all bbc staff indulge in and. Wimbledon and some of the over paid " talent"

Fair enough, I get that.
 
My biggest gripe with the BBC is not the shite they put on , the money they waste or even the wages they pay, it’s paying THEM a licence fee to watch live TV on any other channel. If I could remove the BBC channel from my TV same as any app, I would do it like a shot as personally never watch anything on BBC. But I still have to pay them my money, why, is there any other business anywhere that you have to pay just to use someone else’s products.
You regularly drink in the Red Lion but you pay the Landlord at the Blue Moon a yearly license fee just to drink in the Red Lion , no way would they get away with it in any court. Sounds a bit like Extortion to me, pay us your money or you can’t watch ITV live.

I pay for my tv license only because I got caught for not paying it in the first place. someone knocked on the door. When I opened it he showed me his id. Unfortunately saw I had the tv on. I was watching home under the hammer. had to pay a big fine and make monthly payments by direct debit. so up to you if you pay it or not.

It’s interesting, we do all pay for lots of public services we don’t personally use: public libraries, public parks, public museums, - some parts of post-16 public education, some parts of public transport etc.
Most people agree that it’s ok to pay for these things because other people using them actually benefits us in some way.
The fact they’re paid from general taxation maybe distances the idea of us paying for services other people actually use though.
Maybe the BBC as a public broadcaster should be paid for out of general taxation, but then it really would be an arm of the government, which may not be ideal given obvious criticisms of state-controlled media around the world.
I can see why people view it in the same terms as buying something they consume for themselves, which then seems unfair if they don’t actually use BBC services, but I don’t think that’s exactly what the BBC is designed to do. As I said earlier in the thread, it may not be doing what we want it to do as well as we’d like - but I do think there’s more to the debate than saying I watch Netflix and hardly any BBC so I shouldn’t fund it as I’m not getting anything out of it. If it’s a good public service that ultimately brings benefits to me (even though I don’t watch much of it), maybe it is worth me putting my bit in to fund it.

I thought that was weird - was surprised to find he’s played for Sweden. He did mention later Swedish and Bosnian international. I didn’t even know he’d been born in Sweden.

Definitely saw him score against Leeds in 2002 lol
 



A cursory look at his career stats on Wikipedia tells you he scored 6 league goals by the end of the 2003-04 season. It’s just piss poor research.
