Baxter....

It often looked like they had an extra man in midfield to be fair, although we were supposed to have the numbers with the 3-5-2 as opposed to their 4-4-2,but their Full Backs Scowen and Williams were up and down and made up the numbers...all worked incredibly hard...they didn't make the most of it though when they hit us on the break fortunately...We were crying out for some creativity and pace...agree about the back 3,they played well along with Coutts for me..Flynn and Hammond struggled,we had poor service from the wide men,and Sharp and Adams couldn't hold the ball, link up or get in behind, but had poor service, and the lads off bench had no impact...end of the day,a fair result for me.

A player who can be beat a man and deliver a telling ball is golden. Jamie Murphy, to put a name on it.

Yes,not saying bring him back..I think he's had enough chances, but we needed someone to create chances or move the ball quicker on Saturday..one clear cut chance would have won the game...Wouldn't have minded Harris's delivery from the left aswell..all hypothetical ofcourse.
Fingers crossed Adkins sorts it out in the summer. No more clean slates needed this year, just quality recruitments

This is what i mean, there was apparently a hearing a few weeks ago for him, so it could be feasible that he's been banned and sacked on the basis that it was recreational drugs and they don't have to announce it

Not exactly Hansard, but Wiki says: Having grown up on Merseyside, Baxter is a fan of local team Liverpool.[21] In October 2009 Baxter was one of three men arrested in Kirkby on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and on suspicion of possessing counterfeit money.[22] He was subsequently released without charge.[8]

If we are paying this leech 5k a week ,say for 20 weeks while hes suspended ,that is costing us one hundred thousand pounds ,or a decent player who could have got us in the play offs. We should have sacked the fat bastard after the Bury match and used that money.
Have to agree.

I think it's an absolute piss take by the PFA or whichever body is responsible to be clearly dragging him towards the end of his contract when he's going to be found guilty.

It's absurd if United are paying him a cent after his suspension. He should be suspended on nil pay. If he's not guilty then they can pay him monies owed. Difficult to get money back which has been already paid out.

I can't imagine a lorry driver getting a two year driving ban and not getting the sack. There's supporting the staff and being a ruddy doormat. I reckon our club officials went down one of those tacky Southend tattoo parlours and had "Welcome" written right down their backs.

I agree with the post above ,I think the PFA hold the cards in this one and have United to ransom. If so they are a disgrace to their other members.

If mr Baxter was sacked and it wasn't totally water tight the case against him, then he would appeal and his highly paid legal team would spring into action possibly costing more than us paying the remainder of his contract, and letting him go on the released list...quietly off into the sunset..

I stand to be corrected, but I think we did that too with a certain Welshman..

Can I just say, mate, thank you for posting this in a thread already on the matter at hand.

There's way too many on here that want to post a new thread when there's no need because when you type a word in, it already gives you a thread alternative instead of creating a new thread. It stops all the trawling through of previous threads and makes things a lot easier for all forum users.

This is no forum police bollocks, it's just a case of using pure logic and I wish more would use it.

Largely irrelevant now but this x1000000

How that fat waster got another few months money out of us I'll never know.

If hes found guilty then I hope we sue him for damages and get the wages back.

Out of all the players released - Baxter is the only one with any real talent. However, deserved to be let go - only got himself to blame. Needs to sort his life out.

Baxter has a flawed character, which is why we ended up with him. Otherwise, he'd probably be playing for Everton or some other premier league side. The trick is to help him get his head straight and a decent level of fitness. The raw talent is there. However, there are only so many chances he can be given, so it is right to move him on. What a waste.

I've stuck up for Baxter on many occasions but he's had more than enough chances and doesn't deserve the privilege to walk out onto a football pitch again, the full weight cunt who has took the piss out of us.

Something weird about this second drugs allegation.

If he failed the second test ( and no one appears to know if he did or didn't, even the FA) why has he not been banned?

If he didn't fail why did he not play?

I heard he wasn't well like by the management anyway, but as we all knew he was the only one who offered anything different.. when he could be arsed.

Bumping this again, in case anyone has heard anything concrete.

How and why has he not been banned ? Been nearly 4 months now since the failed test ?

Probably retained. We need quality, committed, fit, ninety minuters like him who smack 15-20 goals in from his commanding midfield position.

Did I say 'smack'? Apologise for that.
