Involved in both goals on Tuesday (admittedly against lower quality opposition), our best player on the ball and our most creative outlet by a mile. Currently being kept out of the side by Scougall, who Clough says is carrying an injury.

I truly think he's our most talented player, yet he looks sluggish, unfit and overweight. He's quite rightly on the bench.

What's it going to take Jose? Do you want to be the best player you can be? Do you want to be in the Championship tearing defences apart? Or do you want to sit on the bench, maybe drop down another level and try and dominate League 2.

You're easily good enough at this level and you should be running games, but you can't get in the team and from what I can see it's because you're lazy. This manager just isn't going to tolerate that.

GET. FIT. I'm getting fed up of defending you.

p.s. I still love you right.

He's a hell of a frustrating player alright, undoubted talent and skill but I agree with most of what you've said above ..... except I don't love him :-)

But where the heck to fit him into the team ??? I think we can only play him off Higdon because we tried him as the lone striker last season and it certainly didn't work.

He needs to want it more though, because a player of his ability should run a game at this level.

Missed two great chances vs Mansfield when he should have done the business and I really think he is too small / lightweight for this division. Refs at this level are too crap to give free kicks when he is wrestled off the ball !!!

Needs to cut back on the Maccy D's

Unless he is trying to become Shipperly MK2.

I think Scougall has to get more involved in games to justify keeping Baxter out of the side. I think the pro-stats for Scougall for ground covered, ball touches, tackles, passes etc would be low, even last season. The lad has undoubted talent but does not get on the ball anywhere near enough.

Id give him a free role, let him play in front of basham and wallace or just behind hidgon.
Personally I'd like to see hidgon up top with mcnulty and Jose just behind but that ain't happening.
And yes I do have the blinkers on to how obviously idle he is.

The best thing about watching Scoogs last season was you did not know where he would pop up and when he is was going to run at someone. He seemed to cover a fair bit of ground last season but he usually had the ball as well.

When he came on against Bristol City he was trending in the UK on twitter for being over weight, is this just his physique though? He has had a full pre season, not had any injury problems apart from a knock on his ankle therefore he shouldn't be overweight.

As majority have said he is a player that needs a free role to do what he wants that's when he is most effective, I don't think he is a player to come off the bench and make an impact though. To be honest with Scougall's pace and skill he would be more effective coming on for the last 20minutes when the other team is starting to get tired.

Personally I believe that Scougall is over rated and not a patch on Baxter. Scougall is a headless chicken with no flair but he is one of Clough's signings. Sadly IMHO Clough is a control freak so has to have his own signings in the team, hence Davis always starting. This truly worries me as it makes him, i.e. Clough, blinkered.

Players who are not on form and carrying injuries should not be on the team sheet. I have to laugh that you complain that Baxter missed two chances on Tuesday, WTF did Scougall do against Bristol City, he missed an easy header, Get over yourselves he is not the Scottish Messi and he certainly isn't the Messiah.

Incidentally, Baxter needs to play in his proper role just behind the striker, that's where he played for Oldham and scored loads of goals. If I was Jose I would be asking my agent to get me a move to a club that plays football and has a manager who appreciates flair because Clough certainly doesn't.

And to think I used to be a clapper!

He's lost loads of timber since last season, he's half the size he was

This. I don't understand the comments about his weight as he's shipped loads.

I also don't think he's a like for like swap for Scougs. I like Baxter, but not sure there's a role for him in the setup.

I agree and i find it bizarre that a manager doesn't play his best technical player, who when given the chance WILL dictate games.

Scouggs and Baxter should both play for me as they aren't the same sort of player(when fit),them 2 with Wallace(when fit) behind them would mean we keep the ball more meaning we would have more chance of doing something with it.

Have you heard of Andy Butler ?

Maybe if Baxter got his finger out and started showing this so called massive talent he could get in the team ,for me he looks like a spoilt show pony with an ego who we cant afford to give a shirt.

The ones that are all ready getting a shirt certainly aren't deserving it either atm, so something has to change sitters.

Clough had 8 of his own signings in his first team last Saturday, that's all;);)

Yes he's a control freak and so would you and I be. Shame is that Porter was one of his ex's otherwise he would be gone.

If only he could count Baxter as "his own creation".

Yeah as part of my post I wanted to make a suggestion but I just can't decide where he'd go! I think he has the ability to make himself undroppable (build the team around me) but he's either lacking the desire or has conned us all into thinking he's good!
