Be interesting what happens next, didn't NC get rid of Brandy for same thing, albeit a bit more history where FB was concerned. Or is Baxter too indispensable. Just asking.UTB.

I think Nige probably got rid of Brandy for being a petulant little shit who was crap rather than his sending off.

Higdon and Bash have both come straight back in following reds.

Like I said, I'm going by my view real time and stand to be corrected by the replay... But I certainly wasn't the only one that didn't immediately see it as a straight red... Not sure why I should feel silly from my honest view of it at my angle?

My thoughts are the same as Foxy's; I was on the upper tier of the Bramall Lane end and in real time it didn't look that bad from that angle. I said at the time that it was no worse than O'Brien's tackle on Murphy and I stand by that but with the benefit of the replays, Baxter can have no complaints.

From the BBC live text that foul on Murphy was around 13 mins in - has anyone with access to BladesPlayer been able to review it (nudge here for Bergen Blade !)

Because it was a terrible tackle and to pretend otherwise seems to me to be born of incredible bias. It was clear to me and everyone around me on the Kop but no apparently their player was the greater villain for having the temerity to roll a bit and their manager should be tarred and feathered for applauding a fully deserved red card.
And there are many who deny Morgan deliberately smashed into Hume. Opinions eh? Nowt like them is there?

Or alternatively, it may have just looked different from my angle, rather than any bias or pretence whatsoever. If both legs left the ground and he was out of control, then fair enough, deserved red... I'm just saying how it looked from my view, real time.
My sole view of it was on FL shiw on Sunday. Immediate thought was red? Really? Need to se it again but deffo understand why you may see it as you did.

I said the same, and I'd have had them both off.

I think the slight difference was Baxter was head-on so any contact would have been very very dangerous, the foul on Murphy they were heading in the same direction. At least that the difference that could determine why one was red and the other yellow. The other difference is that Baxter was going for the ball and made a poor decision with how hew went about it. Their guy just lunged at Murphy with the sole intention of bringing him down.

In isolation, Baxter had to walk. That they had two players go in similarly recklessly and one get a yellow and the other be rewarded with an exaggerated 'got the ball' gesture from the ref makes it a bit harder to take.

The most alarming thing in all this is that criticism of the ref for his performance as a whole is justified in my opinion, yet he is one of the better refs we've seen in the league this season!

Here you go, with another that wasn't even a foul on Coutts.

A badly mistimed tackle, that's all. The way the guy is being pilloried by some you would think he's a mass murderer.

I'm not Joses biggest fan but you have to worry about the level of abuse the blokes getting. If anyone thinks he meant it they either haven't ever kicked a ball or they forgot how easy it is to do something like he did on Saturday. Anyone who has played from Parks level to Premiership has had a moment and done what Baxter did Saturday. Not dissimilar to the shit Doyle took last season after the Fulham sending off. Armchair Managers again I'm afraid.

Bloody hell. I had no idea how bad the one against Murphy was. That looks like a red card to me.

Oof that was ugly. Worse than a yellow but not a definite red. When Foxy mentioned a bad one on Murphy I though of the body check on the edge of our box. I must have been day dreaming when that one went in.

Don't care Trevor hockey would have been proud of that tackle :p

Both those challenges are rather shocking.

Shows how inept the ref was.

The tackle is about 49:50. I was unsure at the time, but having seen that there's no doubt. It was dreadful.

Had the perfect view from the BL upper of the Baxter incident and I did think straight away he's in trouble here. On seeing it back on TV you can't really complain at the red as the game currently stands. Ten years ago it would have been a yellow, 20 years ago a foul only, 30 years ago play on and 40 years ago tackle of the match! In Baxter's defence his momentum seemed to carry him on into the challenge. He's never struck me as the type of player with a nasty streak about him, to me it just seemed a forward's clumsy attempt at a tackle (unlike say Glynn Hodges, who was quite happy to dish it out, sure the pig Harkness could vouch for that :) amongst a few others, Ball at Sunderland or was it Armstrong for instance??)

these guys aren't parks level though. .they are supposed to be pro's. Doyle took shit after the Fulham sending off because he nearly cost us the game. Baxter did cost us the game and probably our final chance of an auto spot. "hanging.. hanging. hang the bastard!":D
what did you expect. "thanks jose.. have an afternoon off? go get yersen' a mars bar mate"
for all his 'technical prowess' i think fans patience is wearing thin with Baxter.. seeing as Flynn and Doyle have upped their game lately there is a new vacancy for scapegoat.

Think it was in a recent programme that it was a tackle from Glyn Hodges that ended Tony Currie's career.
