I’d change the rules on testimonials for Basham. He deserves to be recognised for his exemplary attitude. I’d love to fill the ground for him to enjoy the day. Absolute legend.
Basham is superb, an example that every player in the squad should seek to emulate.

Do testimonials still exist, I thought they were a throwback to the days when the players travelled to Bramall Lane on the bus with their boots under their arms.

Whi was the last United player to get a testimonial ? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Billy should get one, surely his combined time at the club qualifies him. They are charity events now, but it would be nice to fill the ground for Billy and Bash.

His legend continues to grow. He's one of those players we'll be talking about decades from now, boring all the youngsters with stories of how he would play CB, CM and RW, occasionally all at the same time. He did that "flick it over the guy's head, collect round the other side and go on a maraud" thing again too.

I could be 65 years old walking with my wife and grandkids, if I saw Chris Basham walk by the side of me I'd fall to my knees and cry if he looked my way.

He's without doubt my favourite United player of all time.

Bash, what more can you say, the Zidane "spin" against Southampton in the league cup, his goal at Elland Road when he tackled the ball into the net and his rescinded
red card against Norwich, yes pure Legend.

Still runs like Bambi on ice though.
But maybe that's his secret weapon, because he looks like he's shit, everyone underestimates him

Said this for a while. He has this look about him when he runs with the ball like he's beaten a man by sheer luck, but from our perspective we've seen him do it often enough to know he's actually good. That little turn in the box took out four defenders at once.

Out of all the players of this current crop he is the one I will blub the most over when he hangs up his boots. Its damn good job he is the Mo Farah of football could play forever. 😍 ⚔️

Wilder deserves praise....the role that Bashsm plays for us...is perfect and Taylor made for Basham.

In Bashams career....he’s played as a central defender and is average to decent.
He’s been tried as a right back and again he’s average to decent
He’s so versatile that he’s even been tried in midfield and he‘s reasonable in that position too.

Also remember Basham is the best cross country runner at the club...he can run all day long.

When you look at the above qualities....it’s genius to ask Basham to start as central defender but cover for right back when Bogle is exposed.
Then when we’re attacking ask Bashsm to take turns playing in midfield and occasionally play up front.

It still cracks me up....when sometimes our most advanced players....are the centre backs (Basham) making late runs.

Leader out there tonight, driving us forward at every opportunity. Club legend.
His energy levels are unparalleled .He's a players player and never gives anything les than 100% been very much underestimated as he as a slightly ungainly look about him.
Great example to any young player ! Gets better year on year .
The best example of Bash apart from tonight of course was the last match under Atkins! The only player on the pitch who gave it everything ,that is testament to Bash.
He has to become a legend.

Unbelievable the way he took responsibility in the 2nd half, no doubt after a rocket from Wilder. I only just noticed that for the equaliser he tool the throw-in and then two seconds later was charging into the box. Incredible performance.

I have to say that being of a certain age my hero’s were Woodward, TC etc. But I have to say that Bash is as good an all round player than I have ever seen in the Red & White. Legend is a big word but in this mans case it’s well justified.

And how many of you wanted him out of the club ,I thought his performance last night and since the beginning of January is more like what we expect, a bit like Fleck, his performances this year are again like the old Fleck, coincides with us looking more like the Blades of the last few years, far easier to watch, keep it going lads whatever happens this season we are at least giving it a go which we will hopefully see on a regular basis next season when we are all back at the Lane watching them again.

At every level, people (myself included) have doubted Bash. As we came up through the leagues, when the conversation frequently turned to new signings or where we need to strengthen the team, admit it Blades.....we all had a Basham replacement in mind.
But that man with every fibre of his body personifies SUFC. He has it all, drive, determination, attitude, gut for the battle and of course he has those silky skills when he goes forward.
He’s made all his critics eat vast amounts of humble pie, to the point we’re he now the first name on the team sheet.

What a fantastic player and a fantastic professional.

For Bogles goal, is there any player in football history that would decide now is a good time to have a little flick and turn back round instead of getting his shot away.

Got to love the man
And flip burgers.
