I dont think its a reliance we wanted to see we just like to see someone actually trying and making a difference. He was one of the most consistent players with regards to effort and one thing fans like is a tryer. He is a legend. He didnt get player of the year for nothing not so long ago.

When did Basham last play in a CB pairing? Most willing to dismiss the idea of trying him with Egan. I'd be giving it a shot if we are to go with a back 4.
Otherwise basically he's redundant/just backup and I don't believe he is.

Slightly surprised SJ didn't go with 3 at the back in a 343 given the squad we currently have.

I said in my report and pre season it needed freshening up...a few such as Baldock, Stevens, Fleck and Norwood probably would benefit from a new start as much as we would moving them out. These players gave not been the same for 18 months. Yet we keep playing them and hoping for changes?

Football teams evolve in cycles - their cycle faded away last season , but we doggedly cling on , like I did to an old girlfriend coz I couldn't contemplate selling our house - one morning I came down to breakfast + said "this has run its course , I'm phoning the estate agent today" , she cried a bit , but neither of us ever looked back.
