I thought about this and suggested it previously, but I've changed my wind. I don't think he's good enough in the air. Good enough for a RB or RWB but a CB? It would be nice to have his pace back there though.

Ability to head the ball at CB doesn't appear to be a factor in playing that position. See Ampadu.

But our weakness in the air has cost us repeatedly this season ampadu being an example as you say. Baldock would further compound this issue imo. Now he did look interesting at centrehalf against Brighton when we were down to 10 men as a hybrid centrehalf/ rightback but we played with a huge amount of positional fluidity to cover for him. We were switching formation almost constantly during that game playing bogle and rightback and baldock at centreback but then pushing baldock out to right back and bogle forward to right midfield and back again. This meant that Brighton couldn’t set up to exploit baldock in the air as they couldn’t guarantee he’d be at centreback consistently. In fact the whole thing confused them immensely and was a great piece of coaching/management but it’s not sustainable long term.

Sorry I was being facetious. It's bordering on criminal the amount of chances and goals conceded from an inability to win defensive headers this season. Baldock needs to concentrate on getting back to his own high standards at RWB. I believe playing at LCB has partly contributed to Endas loss of form. Horses for courses.

Ahhhh I thought you might’ve been but couldn’t be sure hahaha. I agree we’ve got a few hybrid players at the club who can play multiple roles but baldock and Stevens aren’t two of them.

I don’t think you’ll see it as a starting formation as we simply haven’t recruited players to play that way. It would be an interesting plan b though.
