So if Wright keeps his place who should the third full back be? Maybe it's a case of horses for courses and for some oppo Bash makes sense whilst for others it's EEL.
Maybe Bash is handy on the bench as cover for a few positions, although I don't see him in midfield any time soon.

Either is fine but the thing with Bash is he's naturally attack-minded. There were a few occasions against Fleetwood and Gills where our right-sided CB was fucking miles up the pitch, and he doesn't have the pace to get back in time if we lose possession.

On that basis, I'd say EEL should be the starter, but if Bash can keep back then either is fine by me.

EEL is excactly how the Wolves fans said. Does some great stuff, great tackles/ headers.
At his best he's far better than Basham as a defender but there's always the odd lapse of concentration or mistake. With Wright at his side offering insurance cover it brings the best out of EEL and yesterday non of his deficiencies came into play. EEL had a good game.

However I thought Basham was also very good as the 2nd half replacement.
He's much better coming out of defence with the ball, more mobile and better at passing.

For me if we play a tough team and need the best defender then it's EEL.

If we are playing a weak team or have a lead then the defenders can afford to push more into midfield. So Basham is the better choice when we are dominating.

Keep the same side whilst ever it is winning and everyone is fit.

I'm not gonna jump on the EEL bashing band wagon, but I've never thought he is comfortable as the central CB of the 3.
That role should be either Bash or Wright.

So either :-
EEL. Bash. JOC

Or

Bash Wright JOC

Or

EEL. Wright JOC

UTB

We were better defensively in the second half when Basham came on.

Basham has also been better than EEL recently, regardless of position.

A big reason to go with EEL is the physicality but if Hanson's starting that becomes less important, especially if the opposition don't have big forwards.

I hope Basham starts at Peterborough. They have plenty of mobile, skillful players so there'll be plenty of tackles to make and that's what he's good at doing.

Basham impressed me yesterday. I don't mind admitting that I was concerned when he came on as to how he would deal with Elliott and for the first few minutes he was predictably out muscled. However he then started to use his brain (not something I normally credit him for) and stopped trying to match him physically, instead relying on pace and guile. He would let Elliott bring the ball down before simply popping in from behind to knick the ball and take it away from him. He did this countless times and ended up making Elliott look slow and ponderous where as he had looked quite agile in the first half when up against EEL.

That being said Elliot was a handful at times. He'll of a unit as well. Scary fucker

Not read anything yet, but guessing EEL is injured?
Yes, Wilder covered it in his interview. He's been carrying it for a while and although CW wasn't that clear on it, he mentioned a hip injury. I assume he felt it again after that clash he had just before half time.

Implied with some rest he would be OK for next week.

He said EEL wanted to play despite this niggle.

Cheers, not got round to the interview yet.
