...according to Paul Walker on Twitter, hopefully before Wed so they can get some match time in.

Also has anyone heard anything about Bodnar signing? Blackpool haven't signed any new players yet - that means Calve should still be available.

Still think we could do with another attacking wide midfielder, unless he is going to use the young lads James and Chapell to mix things up a bit. I would give them a run out for a time on Wed.

i thought Bartley was shite when we had him on loan last season.
If he was that bad Wenger wouldn't still have him at Arsenal. I felt he played better the longer he was with us and has potential to do well.

Having read this I think the young lads will more than likely get a game on Wed.

Off the back of yesterday's game, I'd prefer Ertl to partner Morgs than Bartley

Bartley will benefit from a long stretch next to Morgan. Think he'll be a better player this season.

Looking forward to seeing Ertl in midfield to be honest.

We need Ertl's height in midfield IMO, that was surely the smalllest midfield ever sent out yesterday.

Agree with you on this.

Once signings have been made and niggling injuries are overcome, can see Nosworthy at RB, Bartley alongside Morgs with Jordan at LB. Ertl to hold the midfield with Monty, dropping quinn to the bench

Pretty sure Britton needs to be in there. I'm sure Ertl with Monty is fine for those odd games we'll be playing 4-5-1, but as a midfield pairing it'll surely be Monty and Britton.

I'd say all three!

Simonsen
Nosworthy Bartley Morgan Jordan
Monty Ertl
Ward Britton Cresswell
Evans

Incredibly weak down the left hand side for me.

I would go with;

Simmo

Nossy
Morgs
Barts
Jords

Wardy
Britts
Erts
Yeatesy

Cressy
Evs

That does mean leaving Monty out, which I have no heitation in doing!

Is it really that weak? Cresswell does his share of tracking back and Monty covers plenty of ground. No idea about this Jordan guy, though.

This should bolster the squad just nicely. We would then have;

GK: Steve Simonsen; Mikhel Aksalu
CB: Chris Morgan; Nyron Nosworthy; Kyle Bartley
RB: Matt Lowton; Rob Kozluk; (Laszlo Bodnar????)
LB: Stephen Jordan; Andy Taylor
CM: Nick Montgomery; Johannes Ertl; Stephen Quinn; Leon Britton; Jordan Chappell
RW: Jamie Ward; Kingsley James
LW: Mark Yeates
FW: Ched Evans; Richard Cresswell; Daniel Bogdanovic

Injured (to return):- Ryan France; Lee Williamson; Darius Henderson; Nathaniel Foster

That should give us enough for the time being as we have a number of players who can adopt different positions.

Good work Blades! Now lets get these lads in.

Signed according to The Star:

STEPHEN Jordan, the former Manchester City and Burnley full-back, has signed a one year deal with Sheffield United.
Warrington-born Jordan, 28, had been expected to join npower Championship rivals Portsmouth.

But the six footer elected to link-up with Kevin Blackwell's side instead after travelling to Bramall Lane for talks.

And confirmed on the OS:

The Blades have stiffened their defensive options with the completion of the signing of Stephen Jordan on a one year contract.

The 23 year old, who left Burnley in the summer after three years at Turf Moor, passed his medical over the weekend to complete the formalities.

Lancashire born, Jordan was nurtured from within the Manchester City youth development system, initially making his league debut whilst on loan at Cambridge United.

He went on to make 73 Premiership starts for City before signing for The Clarets in July 2007. Jordan spent part of this summer on tour in the USA with Portsmouth but Kevin Blackwell has secured his signature as one of the three defensive recruits he feels will complete a strong squad that is equipped to challenge.

Presume he's only going to be back up, what with Dickinson being in the bag?

I agree with your placing of Ertl in CM, but I think he will be key this season in being able to cover a number of positions in what will be a thin squad. He could prove to be the best signing of the lot, he seems very adaptable. I also very much look forward to the return of Willo, although struggle to see exactly how we accomodate him & Britton in the same team unless Willo plays wide, which is a big waste of his talents, as we saw last season.

The signing of Jordan fills a big gap, but I would still like to see a quality RB coming in.
