so wigan who have a full quota of on loan players have got it wrong then

Wigan had proper money to chuck at it. If we're not willing to sustain that sort of spending, we need to be more careful with who we do sign. Adkins might have scraped into 6th by keeping a few more squad players, adding some more so-so players but we'd have probably not gone up and been lumbered with the same restrictive squad for next season.

There was no chance of us going and spending a million quid on someone like Wigan did with Wildschut.

again your making assumptions
how do you know how much money we put on the table

your setting an agenda of your own with not one iota of proof

Adkins said the money was there for Burn in terms of loan fee and wages , are you saying we offered him 100 quid a week
you argue we put up peanuts but where is the proof other than what your pathetic conspiracy theory sets

Wigan had more cash to splash as theyd sold far more players than us , about 3 to 4m quids worth
another bit of the plot you never add in

No. We were a poor squad because despite having 35-42 pros (depending on how you calc) we had no leaders and no "team."

Many of us have been saying (for two years now) that we needed a quality CB and a dynamo (with bite) in midfield.

The rest of them are mostly a bunch of pussies (Sharp excepted and Che - as he matures into a decent player)

Think we e all been singing from that hymn sheet
I said we needed 3 or 4 to compete
I want to know why greater effort wasnt made to do just that , instead of wasting months chasing unattainable players

‘Sigh’, I don’t know why I get into this discussion with you as it’s tiring and frustrating having to spoon feed everything to you.

Yes they sold players for more money than us who had been on big wages. Yes they were able to clear the decks to start building a proper squad. That makes my point. They had the funds and room in the wage bill (whilst still having some good players on the books too) to go out and sign a shed load of players who could compete for them at this level.

Adkins hasn’t had that opportunity because he inherited a massive squad of contracted players that not many people wanted so he had little room to operate in the transfer market.

Wigan have been able to sign something like 20 permanent and 10 loan players in during the course of the season. A couple of them being million pound purchases. I think with that sort of room for maneouvre at this level, any semi-competent manager would fancy his chances of building a promotion team.

Conversely, we’ve been able to bring in two permanent signings and four loan signings. Less than the vast majority of teams in the division despite moving loads out either permanently or on loan over the course of the season.

££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

Or lack thereof

utter crap , Adkins admitted the crux was the money was on the table

now unless you have the exact ammount to hand , in proof your making it up

are we paying Baptiste in sandwiches

It took us 3 months to sign Hammond as we couldn't (wouldn't?) pay what Leicester were asking. We may well have had money on the table but it evidently wasn't enough otherwise we'd have completed those signings Adkins was talking about.

I've no idea what we're paying Baptiste in but I suspect we're not paying much of his salary given that it's in Boro's interests to get him playing games.

Still...why let the facts get in the way of a load of conjecture?

Adkins has said himself that money was on the table. This is a cold hard fact. Could you address this, and this alone, by letting your reason/excuse for this be known. I am genuinely interested in the counter argument to this point.

the conjectures all yours

as I said prove we didnt put up money
its your pure guess of a scenario ,
let me see Hammond leicester wages compared to what most of our players get would be
peanuts
we finally brokered a deal are you saying its derisory
only took 3 months as we got them down to 500 a week

what bullshit

That just backs up my point?

Very true beetle. Glad you're so self-aware.

Money was on the table for a loan player from the championship and we didn't succeed in landing that player. One reason might be that not enough money was on the table. Even if we had got him, that would have been 6 players in total coming in (this was before Baptiste and we might not have got him if we got Burn).

That is still a million miles away from Caldwell being able to bring in 30 players of his choosing at Wigan.

Adkins has also said

the squad is too big

need to get players out

the size of the squad is eating into the budget for next season

need to cut our cloth

need to consider the business side

we have 5th/6th biggest budget in the division.

Does it not count when it's not in support of an anti-adkins position?

No, it doesn't count because those are poor excuses that did not affect his ability to recruit. As "money on the table" proves. This would not have been said if he wasn't allowed to sign anybody as per the above. In one post you are saying he was allowed to sign, and in the next you're listing multiple reasons as to why he wasn't. Make your mind up.

It is also worth noting that at the time of the Dan Burn chase, Adkins said on a few occasions that "substantial" - or words to such effect - funds had been offered for "players". Again proving that he was not as restricted by the board as you are trying to make out.

backs up what point
your saying because we didnt go in straight away and match his prem wages we were tight

he is probably on 20k a week plus
not being awkward but no one in league one can do that , a third maybe
so because we only want to pay him say 8 k a week your saying the clubs showing no ambition

really

if they wanted to cover you at work would they willingly pay 3 or 4 times as much money, with no negotiation

Ill give you time to think about it

I wonder if one thing affecting Adkins' ability to recruit was the board's possible insistence that any new signings be 'better than what we've got' and keeping a very close eye on recruitment after what happened with Clough. The result being the board only sanction the pursuit of players who are so much better than what we've got that we have no chance whatsoever of signing them - because none of them have the knowledge to distinguish between quality realistic targets and quality unrealistic targets. This would tally up with the profiles of the players we have managed to bring in - all experienced and proven. Which in the mind of our board probably guaranteed they'd be 'better than what we've got'.

Maybe Middlesbrough are paying 100% of Baptiste's wages on the condition that he's guaranteed a first team place if fit and available?

We will be paying a chunk of his wages, Boro are not a registered charity , Ive checked
we played him when he was obviously short of match fitness , such was our need

You'll be doubting my word because I won't name any names who I speak with.
Now, can you be 100% sure we are paying a chunk of Baptiste's wages?

Ill wait till I see the accounts before I believe hes here as a charity case, not that I dont trust someone who knows the lady who cleans the kit and heard it from the man who serves beer in the board room

Should have kept the original without the edit.

I don't know the tea lady, the kit washer, or the barman.
But I do know ......................

So, you've gone from being sure we're paying a chunk (your words) to now not being sure until you read the accounts?

Raise yer game....

I,ll put it this way , not in one report of the 40 odd I have read intimate Boro are offering his services for free
and clubs thank the donor if thats the case , like cardiff thanked Liverpool for Bellamy at 100k a week off

Until its in writing , from one of the clubs, not a twitter comment from an under 21 player Ill go for it being a NORMAL LOAN ie we are paying some of his wages

google search of Boro paying Baptistes loan wages, in every possible way of putting it come up empty handed

So as i thought, you're picking and choosing which quotes you believe to support your anti=Adkins agenda. Got it.

None of us know the specifics of the negotiations. What we do know is Adkins has managed to bring in 4 loans and 2 permanent transfers. Fact. Less than most other clubs despite shedding quite a few players. Fact, Adkins has expressed a wish to bring players in at times and it's not happened. Fact.

I didn't say he hasn't been able to sign anyone merely that he has been a hell of a lot more restricted than Clough was. Largely because of the over indulgence afforded to Clough. Therefore, to record a similar level of performance is comparatively a better effort than his pre-decessor.

Googling if Middlesboro' are paying Baptiste's wages?!!

Yeah, Google, everything about everything, it's all there for everyone to read, what next, no news on Baptiste's wiki page?

Business deals are done in private, they're confidential. Am I having to explain what business is all about, when i'm not even a businessman?
