Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Looks pretty straightforward. He wants to play Premier League football. Who doesn't?

I wouldn't expect him to say anything else. The question is will they look to strengthen that area of the team making him surplus to requirements? I doubt we'll know that anytime soon. One for August possibly. Which is why we'd be best looking elsewhere for now.

when I first saw a clip of this interview (without the bit saying he wanted to give it a go at Boro) I thought he looked gutted and like he really cared about what happened here, and it got my hopes up he might sign.

I'm hoping that could still be the case, depending on what Boro decide, but it might just be that he's not brilliant at interviews - reminds me of Kierion Freeman in that respect, and same accent as well.

Lets have a bit of reality......the manager has already said that 'he would love to sign him.....but there's no chance.' End of.

Would've liked him to come back but we can sign an adequate replacement as well as other decent centre halves, at least if we move quickly enough.

Came here to get his fitness back up to scratch. He's done that.

Too good to be fucking about in this shite division. Got the opportunity to scrap for a place in a Premier League side and the quality to play in the Championship if he doesn't cut the mustard.

Good luck, Alex. All the best.

He is not premiership quality or class. If Boro have players the calibre of Baptiste in the first eleven they are relegation Certs.

Middle championship level to me . If we get him it would be a great signing . At least he looks like he cares , and that for us is a good starter for ten. However we will do the usual , dilly dally and he will finish up at Chessy to be near his family home in Mansfield.

I agree, but as back-up to the first team (which he may well be depending on their recruitment) I suspect that might appeal more than a League 1 move.

Remember for example that we had the likes of Chris Lucketti, barely involved in our promotion run, that ended up in the first team at times due to injuries in 06-07. Might be a similar instance where Baptiste is willing to accept a fringe role in a Premier League squad in the hope that injuries/suspensions might create an opening. Probably an attractive possibility of it's the only time in his career where he might appear in the Premier League, even if just for a handful of games.

Shit, now we need 2 Dan Burns

Whats the plural of Burns? Burns's, Burni?

Why on earth would it be "Burns's"? It's not possessive and there's no missing letter so there's NO FUCKING APOSTROPHE!!!

(Sorry, rant over) Presumably it's "Burnses", though I do like the sounds of "Burnii".

With £100m quid floating around and the Leicester factor you could well be correct . I think it depends on who will be the next manager , length of contract , any salary bonus negotiations to take place.

He is to me captain material and a good pro , which is what we need . If surplus to Boro requirements he would be ideal . The Premiership experience is a once in a life time situation , and he has had a taste with Blackpool.

Love the fella to come to the lane , but Adkins power of attorney on who comes in ( and perhaps out ) has diminished IMO.

Ok he's a decent player but in are situation, with our budget there is no way I want us to do another Brayford and blow far too much of it on Baptiste. We need a few younger, hungrier guys to compliment the experience that we already have. If he thinks he should be in the premier league, fair enough. I guarantee you he'll be on loan next season at a run of the mill Championship club like Birmingham City or Ipswich. I'd much rather sign Tafazoli from Mansfield to be honest.

He's decent - definitely above the level we play at at the moment and really, the type of player we desperately need.

But in the PL he will be turned inside out and served his arse with a plate and a napkin. Can you imagine Baptiste faced with Giroud or even someone like Aguero?

He's better off at the Lane, creating the spine of a promotion team where his efforts, like say Page, Beesley and Morgan, will be appreciated by the fans. The one game I saw him play, he looked a lot more solid and composed in a three man backline than I have seen. Mind you, tell that to McCabe. He'd rather blow the cash on painting the stand.

He's been good for us but his loan spell hasn't been at the level of a John Brayford, Matt Phillips etc. Good if we can get him, if not, let's try for someone else. A bit of pace is important though.

id be surprised if he even wanted to come to us even if theres no place for him at Boro, its not like he got the love in that Brayford did or got to see us at our best with the fans roaring them on. All he got was to witness constant abuse to the regular players or just complete apathy in an utterly shit team. Why would anyone want to drop 2 divisions to come to us after witnessing what he has? ( I guess to get away from the shit hole that is Middlesboro )

Hes no world beater either so not too bothered as Id imagine hed be on high wages for us whereas we could get 2 up and coming CBs for those wages

Not saying you're wrong, but a Leicester-supporting mate of mine said exactly the same about Wes Morgan a couple of years ago (which I have reminded him of more than once this season).

Plenty of us thought that our Morgan wouldn't be able to handle the Premier League – he handled the step-up much better than we expected.

The lad's played twenty odd games in the PL not that long ago and was part of Blackpool's promotion campaign.

There's a good chance they'll keep him as cover and, if they don't, he'll end up somewhere like Forest or Derby.

True, and I thought Morgan W was bobbins when he played for Notts F.

I agree with those saying we can't be giving any defender massive wages, be it Burn or Baptiste. I'd like one of those two on the right terms - Burn is probably more realistic, but we need to use the budget intelligently. Signing two or three decent defenders with resale value would be ideal. Tafazolli's out of contract and would be worth a punt, Aaron Pierre should be gettable from Wycombe and then you have players like Mark Beevers also out of contract.

Ideal scenario for me would be Tafazolli, Burn and Pierre but to do that we'd probably have to sacrifice other areas of the team.

Beevers had a field day at Millwall. Kicked Billy at every opportunity, and the other man up top was Sammon. Probably the easiest game he had all season. Know he's an Oinker, but you know what you're getting with him.
