I would love to see some decent banners at the Lane, like you see at Old Trafford(FEAR - For EveryManc A Religion). etc draped from middle tier of Stretford End.

We could have one I have seen previously draped from the BL upper tier. SHEFFIELD's RED AND WHITE or new ones "THE ORIGINAL UNITED".

I'm not creative enough to come up with any more. Anyone got any good ideas?

Why FEAR or why banners at the Lane? Well the FEAR link is because Stone Roses are Manure fans and Ian Brown wrote FEAR. They play the song. I just think the banners look good and would also think Blades related banners would look good draped from the BL upper tier.

Sans contacts, I thought it said Lenners.

20 pages, now get cracking.

Somebody mentioned banners from way back on another thread.

In the 60's me and my mates made a couple of banners. The first was a white sheet with a couple of bits of wood either side. Can't remember what we put on the sheet but it was pretty crap. The second one was more sophisticated. Red fabric, decent poles (sweeping brush handles) and Sheffield United emblazoned on the fabric. Letters cut out using white fablon bought at the Castle Market. Summat from Blue Peter.

Final one was a cardboard cut out of Bertie Blade. It was a windy day when we introduced Bertie to BDTBL and unfortunately he blew off his stick and ended up halfway down Shoreham Street. Probably under a number 42 bus.

There were loads of banners on the Kop in those days and I'm surprised that in the 'Old Photos.'.. thread there are no photos .

Resourceful days.

About 9 seconds in to this, BB. A bit later it looks like it's kicking off with that notorious Burnley firm ;)

The couple at the back of the Kop, including the Happy Days one I did for Crawley away after Shred's passing, have been taken down by the club to allow for advertising hoardings.

Which I think answers your question.

We can't have banners. Over the years, other club's fans have been known to have banners. Therefore, it's unoriginal so we shouldn't have any. We need to uphold our world renowned position as football's most original fans. Like similar to only singing songs that no other fans have ever sung before. Or not.

Too anxious to have banners?

Bloody disgrace that I know clubs need money but can't they just leave some space for fans for stuff like banners. Wonder if companies that advertise there can actually measure value for money of an advert at the back of the Kop. Does anyone take any notice?

What happened to the "WE HATE WEDNESDAY" one? Or was that banned?

Think the owner was basically threatened with arrest by SYP if it showed up again.

Same with my "Blades against the Desso" one.

Company I do a lot of work for had an ad banner on on a board behind the Kop goal so it appeared on TV when they showed the goals. I can tell you now it was worth absolutely fuck all to them, not one bit of interest from it so some add at the back of the Kop must be even more worthless.

I dont really get advertising on the boards, the only one Ive noticed recently just says something like 'fantastic'. What do they sell or do? Ive not idea and I cant be arsed to look, is it even a brand? Equally Hauling must have spent shed loads to get every ad on the south stand, dont know what they do either and not going to look, do they even trade over here? I guess that ones more somekind of sponsourship into the club with a view to when McCabe sells it to them or when China town is build but just makes no sense to me.

Now the ads on the TV are a different story, Ive defo been sold on the narrow boats
