On a lighter note, Darren Bent has just scored with a deflection of a balloon. This one against Liverpool so may get more press.

Yeah apparently Reina had is covered until it hit the beach ball and completely bamboozled him.

:D

Were there any Balloons at Scunny?

I heard that there were strange goings on at Scunny. Apparently Bunn saw Ball's flying towards him but just managed to get out of the way before they hit his hands. Lucky escape for him!

I tell yeh, we need a few more tricks like this to get over this rough patch. Maybe sic a dog on opposition Goalies?

Nice quote from one of the rags today;

“The FA should take the usual course of action. The goal will stand and 10 points will be deducted from Leeds”

How come there wasn't this much fuss with us against Manchester City?

I have to say that it's bothered me that we have not persisted with that pair of balloons. Particularly has they were more effective than some of the other stuff we've tried.

As for the Beach ball incident I think it got more prominence because a couple of ex refs cottoned on to it so quickly. I have to say that it is surprising that the match officials didn't "make the right decision" because that incident crops up regularly in refs exams and quizes. The scenario is usually something similar to say a dog comes on to the pitch cocks it's leg up against the post, the ball hit's the dog and goes in; what decision do you make?
By the time you've made the big time as a ref you should know the answer to that one better than the one that goes "If you are referring a Manzoo fixture and there is 6 minutes to add to the regular 90 would you play 96 minutes, 98 minutes or would you play on until the Manzoo scores the winning goal?

Probably because the ball didn't really deviate that much during the cross, and the defender simply mistimed his clearance before Luton got a boot in the way. The keeper had also been trying to get rid of them all as well.

There was a bit of a fuss, but nowt like this!
