As a non-Blade who contributed now and again to the SUISA message board back in the day and who now lurks on here, congratulations on your season. Your support over six seasons in that league has been fantastic and it's great to see you getting out of it.

There are certainly precedents for promoted teams going straight up the second tier, and you have momentum. One thing that may make it a bit harder these days is that quite a few clubs up there have large parachute payments. But some will waste them, and if you buy well, you never know.

Doesn't every promoted team go up with a "strong winning mentality"?

We need five or six additions to the squad, I think: left back/left-sided midfield, centre back, centre forward, holding midfield player and right back cover (unless Brayford comes back). I'd say of these, the pressing need is to upgrade LB, the 'Jake Wright' third CB position, and get a holding midfielder in - I suspect we will need to play a more defensive-minded game in some away fixtures. A marquee signing up top would be lovely, but if money is tight I would be inclined to stick with the current four principal strikers.
