Were awful first half yesterday.

Bartley had his worst game in a long while, lost his rag and was very, very lucky to stay on the pitch during the handbags/ scuffle. His fists were flying (as were McShane's) and he needs to get an experienced centre half alongside him. He also needs to distinguish between 100% commitment and thuggery.

Simmo - Low on confidence, perhaps not at fault on the goals (third was a soft parry to Bullard's feet) but needs to be more commanding.

Nosworthy - i've tolerated him before, but he was Truly awful v Hull, I struggle to think of a more dangerous player for us to have at centre half. We have to get rid, but sign Reid first! He was also lucky to stay on the field.

Lowton - Growing up, got caught out a little but perhaps that was down to the lack of support and shape in the back four. Needs to be the regular fullback at Left/ right. Played a couple of killer balls.

Calve - Not as dire as Nosworthy, but close. Considering he had a very good debut, I expect him to have shown better since. Needs to have a look at himself. And he must not wear gloves again.

Taylor - sorry to see him go off and hope he gets better, but Lowton is a better option.

General - Hull bullied us, nobody took a hold of the game and we allowed ourselves to be pushed around. Plus Hull had some pace up front which we just couldn't cope with.

I like Bartley. He has consistently been our best defender. He needed to toughen up - and has - although I agree he took that too far yesterday, albeit after being provoked by McShane. I have to say I'm not sure that Simo or any of our other defenders are up to it.
