Don't think it was navy blue Silent, more royal blue if my memory serves me right. Hence, the possible outrage. Did'nt they have red and white diagional stripes on them?We wore all navy blue at Stoke, Liverpool, Arsenal and probably Middlesbrough in the 1974/75 season. Our fans werent happy about it despite us finishing in 6th place
The first time we wore the red and white diagonal stripes was in the 5-1 defeat at Man U in August 1975.Don't think it was navy blue Silent, more royal blue if my memory serves me right. Hence, the possible outrage. Did'nt they have red and white diagional stripes on them?
However, in the absence of any photographic evidence, I might just be wrong.
Can anyone answer the OP question ? Why change kit when it doesn't clash ? Or will you say the white shorts constitute a clash on their own ?
I like the kit. I agree its not very Sheffield United. but must admit the child in me took a little pleasure in us beating wendy to the release of what is essentially the same kit but ours looks better but thats by the by.
As for those complaining about not needing to use a change strip, I think this may have something to do with the Poppy appeal. the kits were/are being auctioned off with proceeds going to the poppy appeal, and i think the thinking maybe that with us using the Black away only a couple of times the opportunity for collectors to buy a match worn one will be fewer than if they were the home shirt. Unnecessary kit changes boil my piss as theyre usually dictated by sponsors but in this instance I think it may simply be about getting more money for Charity.
Love the photo - Just hate the kit! Well it's really just those horrible orange shorts. Freeman would look so much better with red and white stripes and black (or even white) shorts.Looks alreight to me

This one? It's a real cracker, I love it.The first time we wore the red and white diagonal stripes was in the 5-1 defeat at Man U in August 1975.
It was the first kit I had owned. Wore it for my school cross country runs. I think the photo was taken at Upton Park in Sept 1975. We lost 2-0 and TC was subbed for tactical reasons! This one? It's a real cracker, I love it.

My brother bought this replica shirt from the sports shop that used to be at the bottom of Bramall Lane. Can't remember the shop's name, though.
