A mate took some students for a tour of BDTBL earlier in the week. MA has had the away dressing room stripped, no electrical sockets, mirrors etc just benches and hooks. He apparently doesn't want them playing music, watching DVD's and such like. I would have thought this would just rile the opposition, word will surely get out and they'll bring battery operated kit.

I love the away dressing room thing, Leeds' away dressing room is tiny.

Different managers have different criteria, but home dressing rooms are always massively contrasting.

Great to hear that Micky is part of this psychological warfare thing.

Not exactly working is it? 4 draws and a defeat in his 5 home games in charge as opposed to 2 wins and 3 defeats in the previous 5...

Well it's certainly having the desired effect. We're unbeaten for 2 games. I wonder if Palace have the same as they are unbeaten for 8 games. :D

Perhaps they ought to turn off the hot water in the home dressing room and tell em they'll turn it back on when we earn 3 points! :-)

Absolutely pathetic

Why Mic? Because you wouldn't do this? Because you've never been a football manager and you don't know if it works?

Or is it because you saw that it was Micky Adams that does this and not SoD.

I like any of these things, of course there is no proof if they work or not (directly) but if a manager thinks it gives an edge and he pays so much attention to detail

Personnally I think it makes the changing room much safer as to have trailing wires, electrical equipment that is not certified, not to mention the combination of water and electrics just opens open a whole can of worms with a whole bunch of risk assessments. By reducing them, this will surely bring our insurance premiums down, leaving more money available to bring in players like Doyle or Collins. Good work Micky :)

Great work Micky!

Well done Micky, come on Micky!

Go the other way. Put a bar in, some chandeliers, a decent sound system, a few lasers and a nice disco ball. Maybe the new bloke could sort out some double luxury Axminster.

They'll never want to leave.

It's crazy..........but it just might work!

I always love this - same happens in every organised sport.

Very occasionally it works - upsetting a visiting team's routine. Mostly it's greeted with a shrug of the shoulders. I've seen it work many times the other way around - turning up at cricket grounds with plush changing rooms with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and get comfy. The amount of pre-game high jinks gets on the home team's tits and suddenly you feel like the home team as they fall apart.

My favorite ground for treating the away team badly has led to it being christened the "Bobby Sands memorial pavillion" in the Cheshire League. Noone uses the hangers - clothes go into the kit bags. A unique sight and smell experience.

>MA has had the away dressing room stripped
sounds to me like we're really clutching at straws here.. frankly it's embarassing

Go on, enlighten us with your wisdom as to why its embarrasing? It happens all over the country

{in utter astonishment} does it?? 'really'??
you don't need wisdom to work this one out.. surely you should be hospitable to your guests?? i'm missing something aren't i?.. visit a lot of grounds do you :)

Let's get some chavs to let the tyres down on the coach too.

Certainly happens at Chelsea. Huge difference between the home and away dressing rooms there.

Thats as maybe but the description of it makes it sound like some gutted empty house on the Manor. personally I find it distasteful.

I've been to a few, sniffed a few dirty socks etc, but my private life aside. It doesn't take much to know that there are vast differences between dressing rooms.

Take a look at the Neil Warnock documentary from 2005, Millwall, Leeds, Highbury to name a few were poxy little changing rooms. I've read enough autobiographies over the years to know that this type of thing is common practice.

I think you'll agree that most clubs are treated so well on the field that we can perhaps be forgiven for giving them crap facilities

We can show off ;)

The Bayern Munich/1860 Munich dressing rooms are vastly superior to the away dressing room with warm up areas attached and better showering facilities. The away dressing rooms look like Ikea stripped of any furniture and I think your only option is the group bath.

I did that tour too. But they didn't let us in the away dressing room - just pushed us through the home one which was like a cross between a spa and a small hospital. Plush didn't really describe it....
