First and foremost, excellent result today, and one that I'm sure club legends Chris Morgan...and, erm, Danny Wilson will not have enjoyed.

But Nigel Adkins pre match interview was a real worry for me, and casts major doubt on our chances next season.

Talking about the players we have already taking up next seasons budget and cutting our cloth accordingly are incredibly worrying and clearly preparing us for what next season will be like

I can't believe cutting our cloth has come up again, after several years failing to get out of a shit division. The last time the owners talked like this we got ourselves relegated.

What is the Prince's move here? He's only here to try and make money and he'd only come close to doing that should we be in a higher division, but we look set to continue the cost cutting exercises of this season.

How is it possible that we can't compete with the likes of Burton, Wigan and Gillingham?

They'll be backed by another strong following next year, surely we can put together a reasonable squad with players from this league and below on sensible wages for sensible fees?

Surely these successful businessmen can see this too?

Why was his reason for coming here exactly ? People have a go at McCabe but I really don't get this bloke.

Phipps said at the press conference- to make money.

No idea how you would manage that in football these days but I assume he thought he'd pick up a decent sized club on the cheap, pump minimal investment into it, get it to a higher level and the money could be made there.

Be typical to puncture the momentum building at the end of this season by flogging Billy &/or Che over the summer because, & I quote, "they asked to leave". And then replacing them with a Conor Sammon type.

Sell your best striker(s) like Peterboro, & sink like a stone.

Keep them (when you've got them) & thrive.

The Invisible Prince has said further significant funds are now only going to be available once we are in the Championship, so it's over to Mcbullshit to run the show and he always speaketh with forked tongue.

For the record McBullshit is a cautious business man with absolutely no guts to take a risk when it comes to investment policy in the football side, we will be attempting it on the cheap, make no mistake about that, he and his lackeys are gambling that this level is so bad we will never be in danger of relegation and we may just fluke a promotion through the play offs.

Or get us to the Prem, or near enough, to sell us on at a whacking profit a bit like Mandy over at the sty.

Seems pretty obvious though does it not that if we are having to cut our cloth next season that the Prince has fked off. No Jimbob these days sort of endorses it for me

We are going back to the pre Prince days where McCabe threw the towel in and let us all know that the club had to stand on its own two feet

Where's this Chinese consortium McCabe was supposed to be in talks with?

We've got no chance next season if we cut the budget again. Which is further reason for me to steer well clear of a season ticket

Has he said this publically anywhere? I haven't seen it.

The Invisible Prince has become in effect a sleeping partner, he will only be returned to pre comatose state if we ever get promotion.

Forget about the Chinese link that was just a Mcbullshit red herring.

We have lacked ambition and drive from our owners for years - to hear it could get even worse is beyond belief.

For a so called Blade, McCabe is a disgrace. He gave up years ago but instead of trying to find a genuine buyer he hangs onto power and allows to drift along in L1.

And yet the one season a manager had some Bollox to turn round to him and say "back me preseason and I'll get you up or we'll hover around the play offs" at the end of 04/05 season showed what backing does :-(

To be fair I think we were very ambitious under Clough, but much like with Robson we gave the money to the wrong man.

We shouldn't even need the Prince's contribution in order to have a top end League One budget. If they can't even muster that next season they can fuck right off.

Only one thing happens when we cut our budget, we go downhill. We never get value for money and probably won't start doing so any time soon.

If we do 'cut our cloth' and it goes as expected on the pitch, next season could be the first time the fans truly revolt against the owners.

And to be even fairer, with our track record of manager appointments, when is there ever a time we can give the money to the right man?

We seem to be a nothing short of a fkin disaster

McCabe has never said anything about Chinese investment in United as far as I'm aware. There was a thread on here started by Barney about it after the Scarborough deal with the Chinese was announced. People put two and two together and made 8 million.

A cautious businessman doesn't exist in the long run ,McCabe is not a cautious businessman. It very easy for us to spend the tens of millions he has put into Sheffield United.

I think this loyalty and commitment mr McCabe has been banging on about recently only seems to work one way
Just when we see an upturn in form we get this crap

I have wonderd and asked for some time what The prince gets out of being here? If he is pumping millions in a year to keep a club hovering between 5th and 10th of the third tier of English football you have to ask what is he getting out of it?

He doesn't want to take even the slightest risk, if he hadn't sold Beattie in Jan 09 we would have gone up to the Premier League that season, if he hadn't sold Blackman in Jan 13 we would have got back to the Championship that season.

He didn't want to take the slightest gamble that he might lose out financially and snapped off the hands of the first offer that came along.

Teams much further up in the league than us have managed on much less resources than we have had. So it looks like next season it'll be more of a level playing field as far as resources go. That means we'll have to do what teams like Walsall and Burton have done this season and conjure up a handsome finish on limited funds.

But considering what we have got this season is what the budget we have had this season gets you, then I have serious concerns about where we are going to end up with an even further reduced budget next season. And having a reduced budget is a sensible and the most realistic assumption to make with the comments being made.

We've been wasting opportunities by throwing away seasons where we've spent much more than the majority of the clubs in this league. And now it looks like the owners aren't willing to continue in that pattern. Which is where the problem lies. If we've been doing terribly on an above average budget, it's not hard to see which direction it'd go if that budgets gets cut.

We need to keep a high budget, we just need to change what we do with it.

Ah! But he's not actually "Here" though is he?

No word of a lie I have seen the joint owner of my club with the naked eye the same number of times I have seen Halley's Comet.

Do you think it may have crossed his mind when he photo bombed George Osbourne's trip to China what the speculation might be?
